Thoughts on the '06 Loaner.......
Hello everyone, I suppose I should have posted in the new owners forum first but what the heck.
Picked out an '07 Ivory Pearl w/wheat interior sedan with Premium, Nav, and sport wheel/tire package for my wife a few weeks ago.
Words can not describe how Fantastic this car is. I'm sure all of you know the feeling. My wife was driving an '04 V6 Accord coupe, fully loaded, black leather interior.
Anyways, I noticed that the right windshield wiper arm was making contact with the glass and scratching it. Also noticed some sag in the steering column after it came down to you. First off, I'm kind of peeved that I'm having these issues with a Brand spankin new $35,000 car. I make the appointment and secured a loaner (obviously). I get there and they put me in an '06 Ivory sedan. I thought, ok no big deal, although I could have sworn the sales guy said that they'd always put you in the same year or newer car for a loaner.
First impressions: The exterior has always reminded me of the old G20's for some reason. The car appears to be alot taller than the '07's. I don't really know where to start on the interior. The leather seats felt like vinyl although the support was good. (The car only had 20k miles on it btw). The dash and all the electronics (stereo, no Nav, dash cubby, air vents and display on the top of the dash) seemed like a collection of parts that were thrown together. It took me 5 minutes to find the mirror adjustment, which was hidden behind the left part of the steering wheel. While I'm on the mirrors I'll go ahead and say that they seemed to be about half the size of the 07's or maybe they are just alot closer to the driver. They did not instill confidence in lane changes. Who the hell thought that it would be a good idea to put the window and lock conrtols basically on the floor of the car? Made absolutely no sense to me coming from the 07 where practically every control I ever need is at my fingertips. The steering wheel literally felt like one in the civic my wife drove 6 years ago. The amber digital readouts on the dash and radio reminded me of a mid 90's nissan maxima (not good). The seat control placement also baffled me.
Onto the handling......The suspension was noticably firmer, way firmer. I found my head bobbing up and down as I drove over a long bridge. It didn't feel like the suspension was eating up any of it. The motor felt strong, if not just slightly slower than the 07. It definitely feels like the car has to work harder to be as fast. Where in the 07, the power comes on in a massive smooth surge. The wind and motor noise was noticably louder. One thing I DID like about the 06 was the gas pedal, I found that there was better resistance (I do have 12 inch feet).
I dropped that car off at my wifes office only to recieve a call when she left the office asking why they had given her that car. She found it to not be a suitable replacement for her car, I would have to agree.
I'll definitely be speaking to the service advisor about the loaner........

Honestly man you need to chill out. I understand your frustrations as you shouldn't have to deal with the issues you listed with your brand new car. At the same time, it isn't a flawless diamond either. And why b**ch about your loner and make the service advisor's job harder than it is? He wasn't the one who misled you by telling you you'd automatically be getting an '07 loner. You make it sound like V35s are total pieces of crap which I assure you they most certainly are NOT. I'm sure other members on this board would agree with me as well. Just because the V36 is a superior car, it doesn't mean its predecessor is complete and utter s**t. Not to mention the one you're driving has 20k in loner miles on it. I'm sure more than a few kids who have brought their Coupes in for service beat on the loner while it was in their possession. Seriously, sit down, take a chill pill and unwind your panties just a bit. It's just a loner. Sheesh.

You went beyond sharing your impressions, instead you stated that the courtesy car provided to you was unacceptable for an VIP customer with impeccable taste. Why couldn't you drive the first gen sedan for a day and simply allow it reinforced how much you love the V36? If you've come here to whine about the V35, you should expect your impressions to be contested. As for your big feet and the implied reference to your other anatomy, no one cares.

While you've got your little hat on why don't you go offer this guy a nice glass of STFU too?

It's hard not to take it personally when someone is making an effort to bash every aspect of the car that you drive. Then again, what does it really matter? I'll post my 2 cents.
The leather in my car has held up well over the years and is soft and in no way feels like vinyl.
Amber is great color for gauges in my opinion. Not only is it easy to see in many different lighting conditions but it's also not burning your eyes at night. Maybe it's not as trendy... whatever.
Maybe the mirrors are smaller again I guess that can be seen as a negative but I do have excellent eyesight so I guess it's not a problem for me.
I like the air vents on my car since they are quite unique and I haven't been in a car with any like them. Yeah for originality! I will miss the air vents if I move up to a 07+.
The steering wheel is comfortable and functional and suits the car. I dunno about you but I'm fine with firm suspension? I wonder if your loaner had the sport suspension or not?
I think the 07 sedan is a great car. I haven't driven one yet but I've seen them in person. I like the extra headroom in the new car and the engine seems like a great upgrade. Sure the older gen Gs may not have the same power but I can get moving when I need to in mine.
People have complained about the brakes in the 07 Gs. Although they are still effective they are described as being spongier. They have less bite to them.
Cosmetically the new G looks much bigger than the previous gen. Not to the same extreme as the G37 vs the G35 coupe but some would see that as a negative. I think all Gs in general look pretty good but I'll always be fond of the older gen I think.

You guys need to re-read the subject of my post. It's MY opinion. Your car needs to make no one happy but yourself. I was simply forced to drive a car I had never driven before and thought I'd post my percieved differences and what I thought about them. Take it or leave it, I'm not asking you to buy anything.
You folks get your feelings hurt way to easily.

Landon,
Congrats on your choice for a new car and welcome to the 'Driver boards, as well. I trust that your wife is enjoying her new car.
While you are definitely entitled to your opinion(s), as is everyone else, your delivery may have lacked in a bit of tact . . .Being the well written and intelligent person that you appear to be, I trust that you can understand my opinion.
Btw . . . Looking forward to seeing some pics of the new car. Enjoy!
