bluetooth problem?-a solution
bluetooth problem?-a solution
I just wanted to share something with this group in the hopes it might help someone. I can't say it will help you or anyone but my bluetooth is working much better now.
I had issues with my voice coming over as tinny, far away and breaking up quite a bit. Frustrating to say the least. I searched here and found many with similar problems, and others with no issues. Someone that had a problem had the bluetooth unit replaced and it worked.
I took my car in [to the dealer] for this problem and they checked the unit-no problems.
They suggested that maybe the BT volume was set too high, which would cause feedback of sorts to the person on other end of call, and symptoms are similar to what I had.
Volume for BT is separate from the radio. You can set it using radio controls while talking on phone or through the setup menu. Once set it remembers the setting regardless the radio volume.
Well I tried it and it WORKS.
so, just a heads-up for a possible solution if you're having trouble with your BT...nothing to lose.

^yeah, its not in the setup, but all you need to do is control it like you would with the radio volume. use the steering wheel volume control or radio **** any time when using the BT functions. the volume will show like it does for the radio. op even stated this.
seemed to work for me pretty well.
I didnt verify in the OM if you could also change volume through the setup but believed the service guys that told me that. Its on my 07-dont know if maybe they're different than previous years in this regard. I changed it through the radio controls like stated above.

Most of the time the person I'm talking to doesn't realize I'm using the hands-free system. Last night I talked to my wife (she was in the car) and I had no idea until I heard my son say hi at the same time she was talking.
i should go try that.... everytime i use the bt i find myself screaming at the other person for them to hear me

Bluetooth spec 2.0 upgraded the original BT spec to provide two "modes" where mode 1 is original voice communication mode that emphasizes mid-range typical of human voice and is monaural. The newer mode 2 supports stereo and a flat response across all frequencies, i.e. "hi-fi". This mode is used by bluetooth wireless headphones connected to mp3 players. I do not (yet) own a G35, but there may be some setting buried on a submenu that allows you to select the alternative bt "mode." For more info research bluetooth stereo headphones.
There have been quite a few issues with the G35 bluetooth. It is far from perfected. The phone being used also plays a part in the equation. The European cars don't seem to have as many problems.
