How does Infiniti tell the difference between the same car and different years?
IE Audi has the B5 platform ending 02, B6 for years 03-06, B7 platform years 07+

ie. BMW has like e39, e60 for the different cars.

How you tell the difference between 07 G35 and 06 G35 in a conversation?

Hope this isn't too dumb of a question, and if anyone respond simply tell them the year of the car.... slap yourself!

 

Not htat I am aware of, except for the "FM" designation for the platform, I have not heard the different G's refered to as anything else.

All G's use the FM platform so they are not differentiated in that regard. Other than the MY, there is no other way to differentiate the G's like Audi and BMW use. Maybe 1st gen vs 2nd gen. You have to think to that the G has only been around since the 03 MY, whereas cars like the 3 series have been around for many years.

V35 = 03-06 G Sedan/03-07 G Coupe.
V36 = 07+ G Sedan/08+ G Coupe.

On a side note, there are more specific designations. For example I believe the complete chassis code for a V35 Coupe is CPV35 (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but it'd be a pain in the *** to memorize all these different codes for individual trim lines. Therefore most folks just say V35 Coupe/Sedan or V36 Coupe/Sedan and folks know what they're talking about.

And just in case you're wondering, below I've listed most of Infiniti's chassis codes as well as the chassis code for the 350Z as it's pretty popular around these parts:

A32 = 96-99 I30
A33 = 01-02 I30/03-04 I35
F31 = 90-92 M30
F50 = 02-06 Q45
G50 = 90-96 Q45
P10 = 90-96 G20
P11 = 99-02 G20
R50 = 97-03 QX4
S50 = 03-08+ FX35/45
Y32 = 93-97 J30
Y33 = 97-01 Q45
Y34 = 03-04 M45
Y50 = 06-08+ M35/45
Z33 = 03-08+ 350Z

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has the chassis code for the EX. On a side note, I think it'd be a cool idea if we threw together a master chassis code list as well as a master engine code list. I know Freshalloy has an engine code list and a decoder but IIRC it's a bit dated.

 

Yeah, I suck. I actually was going to mention V35/V36, however I never bothered since it's really only associated with the Skylines. I wasn't aware of the chassis codes for the other Infiniti models, thanks for posting it. I guess you learn something new everyday.
