Slightly harsh metal on metal noise on left side of my G

I have this weird metal noise coming from the left/center of my engine bay.. I can clearly hear it on acceleration at low speeds, but not so much at higher speeds (probably due to road noise or exhaust drowning it out) through my driver window only. the sound is a little hard to describe but i speculate its a belt or something spinning that isnt lubricated (sort of like unoiled wheels of a shopping cart? lol sorry im trying my hardest to describe it). Passengers in my car did not really notice at first and called me paranoid.

I searched around the boards about rattles/chatter and what not.. all ive read was that a little noise is normal in a 6MT.. the thing is.. im on a 5AT. I've also read the sticky on abnormal oil levels, so i checked my oil and sure enough it was somewhat low, especially after only 3k miles. I changed my oil yesterday and the noise is still present. my car also has a rough history with transmissions... in the past 2.5 years i've had my tranny replaced twice but the red flags were a bit different than my current issue.

I schedueled an appt with Infiniti to have them check it out, but its on thursday, and its just too scary to be driving it around with that worrisome noise. any idea what it could be? help (comfort lol) would be appreciated

Could be the brakes, the wear marker might make a similar sound...

yep, i thought of that, but the sound seems to be linked to acceleration/deceleration.. so even when I am in neutral, the sound fluctuates with my rpms.. we'll see.. my appointment is tomorrow. hope its nothing serious

I had that problem... it was there for a while but it went away thankfully, I cant remember exactly what I did that got rid of it. There was exact same thing on my dad's GMC Denali, but that never went away.

Fixed!

well i took it in yesterday.. they had me waiting for 2 hours instead of the promised 30mins.. and all they could come up with is "it is from the aftermarket intake" (JWT Popcharger). i giggled a bit inside and kindly asked them to please make sure because I had previously removed the intake to clean it, started the car with out it, and still had the same problem.

after pulling 2 more infiniti techs to check out my car.. all 4 of us turned our attentions to the belts (which i had suspected in the first place). they noticed that they were badly cracked and "chewed" up.. especially my A/C belt. They replaced all of them and BAM! it was FIXED! the dreadful noise was finally gone!

i just had to pay $135 for the belts.. also, i noticed some other problems were fixed too.. apparently my car had some sort of acceleration lag prior to replacing my belts because now it definitely pulls harder than ever. i have ZERO chatter/rattle from my engine.. and my engine just sounds "healthier"

i urge everyone to please check their belts, because it seems infiniti (or at least Metro Infiniti of Monrovia) didnt do a very good job of notifying me of how bad they were during the whole 50k mile period ive had my car until i practically forced them to look into it..

Was this service under warranty? I'm asking because I believe I'm having the same problem. The weird thing is the chattering sound disappears when the car's warmed up. (15 minutes in)
