Damn Stone Chip On Windsheild.

Got a stone chip the other day on the windsheild.
Got it repaired already... I can still see it, right in my line of site looks horrible.
It is almost making me want to buy a new windsheild.

Edit that $221... I think I can get one for $175...
Sound good?

Unless you just get extremely lucky, i have found that the replacement windshields for any car have had problems sealing, in my mothers montero every turn and the windshield creaks, so i would just stick with your stock one, ive gotten a few chips filled too, its bad looking but better than the risk of leaks and what-not

I think that is unusual if the installation is done correctly.
Granted, small chips can be repaired to a point. But cracks can be a real problem as can a severely pitted windshield which most ins. co. will cover as a safety issue.

I've had 3 replaced on other cars with no problems at all. I'm actually hoping this one gets a big enough crack in it to get replaced. I'm tired a looking at all of the tiny chips that make the clean windshield look dirty.

I kind of agree with you...
Its only a chip, its already filled... The dealer took care of filling it for me. I can still notice that its there....
I wonder if its worth it to pay the $175 for the windsheild....
Im like I hope in a few months I wont notice it.

--Glad to see a lot of people in the same boat as me... I may get a Navi system or radar detector to put over it...

Well Ill guess I will keep my $175 in my pocket & not get a new windsheild.
A lady here at work got here windsheild replaced on Grand Cherokee and its leaking (replaced a couple yrs ago) by the same company that I was going to use. Luckily she has a lifetime warranty.
Guess I will leave the stone chip there.

How did they fill it? What did they use? I have an annoying chip too that I tried to fix myself and it didn't work out as well as I'd like it to.

My Insurance Co. (AAA) covers up to three chips free. If I wanted a new windshield, then my deductible comes into play.
I can still see my chips after repairing, but I don't notice them as much now.
If it ever gets a crack or spider from another rock from semi-truck then I'll replace.

Had a few windshields replaced in my day and never a problem with creaks/leaks. It does depend on the installers ability, but also to let windshield sealant to completely set and cure. If it gets flexed before curing by driving or in/out of drivways, it will leak soon over time. I've been told by every installer to, if possible, let it cure for a 24 hr day and in sun as much as possible before driving. Done that every time and never had problems.
