Diesel G???

http://www.autospies.com/news/Infini...-Coming-22282/#

Nissan has filed patents for the names: EX30d, G30d, FX30d, and M30d at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The all new engine is a Renault/Nissan joint venture. It is a 3.0 liter V6 dCi that produced 261 horsepower and 406 lb.ft of torque. The V6 dCi also includes a variable geometry turbocharger, which generates a high level of torque even at very low revs.

The engine’s air intake ducts have been specially designed to increase combustion speed inside the cylinders by swirling the air in the cylinders—the swirl effect. Cooled EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), which uses a Renault-patented air/water intercooler, contributes to overall environmental performance of the engine.

The architecture of the exhaust manifolds has been designed to limit load losses and ensure that the maximum amount of energy is delivered to the turbine.

The V6 dCi Concept introduces a new NOx trap. Alongside the catalytic converter, this device is located on the exhaust line between the turbocharger and the particulate filter. The engine is also fitted with a maintenance-free, periodic regeneration particulate filter, which operates using a seventh fuel injector located upstream of the filter. Regeneration occurs automatically, with no need for intervention from the user.

Interesting...

Damn... if there's one good thing about diesels is that torque. I bet you all that is available at like 1500rpm too

With Infiniti launching in the UK early next year this is a must. I was waiting for Infiniti to announce their plans for a diesel motor and it looks like this is it.

I don't know though... the European market is huge but they're finicky. It's diesel + auto + small cars. And local stuff always sells better because of the tariffs on imported cars.

That's why you see everyone driving small *** 1.8 liter Vauxhaulls and **** all over the UK, France and Germany. I was in the Netherlands for a week and I saw one private SUV, everything else was tiny diesel cars.

A 3-liter diesel Infiniti won't be a small car... and the Diesel market here in the States has always been funky. Hell, look at all the hoops that MB has had to jump through just to get their BLUETEC stuff stateside.

BMW and Mercedes Benz sell tons of diesels from 3 series to 7 series to X-3 and X5. It's not all about small.

Well first off, while you'd find a great number of Vauxhalls in the UK, you won't find many of them in Germany and France. Opels on the other hand... j/k

With this motor Infiniti is definitely aiming at the upper end diesel market a la the M57 diesel inline 6 powered BMW 330d, 535d, X3 3.0d, X5 3.0d etc...

I do agree that Infiniti will need something much more fuel efficient in order to be truly competitive in the European market though. IMO even the 2.5L VQ25HR may not be small enough to sway customers who can't swing a large gas bill. The last thing Infiniti needs is to be caught unprepared in the way both Cadillac and Lexus were when they first attempted to enter the European market in recent years.

I'd be all over that. Diesel is the future and far superior to gas. The aftermarket would be amazing. I have an 05 f-350 diesel, with just a programmer you add 115 Hp. It is a 9000lb truck and almost as quick as my car. Bring it on.
