I have 2003 coupe. I am in the middle of installing a remote start and I attempted to start my car to move it and it won't start. It cranks fine but won't run. I also installed a pioneer avic-z2 but i don't think that should have anything to do with the car starting. The only wires for the remote start I have installed are the ignition and starter wires and the trunk and parking light wires. I haven't messed with the key immobilizer at all although i suspect that is the problem. When I turn the key on the security light stays on, the manual says this means there is problem with the immobilizer. I disconnected the negative on the battery every time I hooked up a wire so I dont know if that could have erased the memory. Any suggestions would be great.

 

Disconnecting the negative battery will not erase the immobilizer memory.

I would wait a few minutes and try again.

Hopefully someone with remote start experience will help soon.

 

you anti-theft ignition lock might be jammed

 

check your fuses... i installed a push start on my car but had to work with the same wires as you did. if your car wont start check the fuse box located next to the battery. just open the battery cover and lift off the cover to the fuse box. there should be an fuse called acc or something and its pink. its pretty big. once you check and see if the fuse is burnt or not, just soder it together if it is and if it isnt check your other fuses.

a good way to indicate if a different fuse is burnt is turn on your headlights and see if anything doesnt work, ie: radio lights, tailights, etc

from here you can find the fuses for these lights next to your left foot when you sit in the driver seat. if you have a 6mt you will have to remove the dead pedal and then remove the fuse cover. check each one by one.

if not in there go back to the battery and if you reach behind the battery, grab ahold of the black casing and pull up. that is the other fuse box

Try your fuses box like mentioned above. There may be a chance you have blown the starter fuse.

 

If it cranks fine how can you conclude its a starter fuse?

 

Were you trying to crank with the actual key or using the remote start end of things? The immobilizer is only deactivated if you have the key in the actual key cylinder unless you have hooked up your immobilizer bypass module already.

On that car there should be two starter wires, 1 primary and 1 secondary. If you put a starter relay pack that required you to cut the primary wire, the micro relay may be sticking. It sounds dumb, but a Directed(Viper) tech told me to slap the module to unstick it. It has worked on a few troubleshoots on remote starts. Sounds like a bad picture on tv, huh. Also, did you meter your wires with a digital multimeter? Having a good multimeter(Fluke) can help you find problems pretty fast. I have been doing alarms/remote starts for 15 years and I test every wire, every time.

Worst comes to worst, you can always return the wiring to original state and try it then.
