Angry I hate wheel locks!!!

I was working on my car throughout the weekend and decided I would try to remove the OEM wheel package and see how my Sparcos looked on it and whether I would keep them or not.

Well first wheel went fine, no issue. Second wheel I decided to start with the wheel lock nut for some reason and it decided to break. Mind you I bought this car used from the original owner.

I guess its hit or miss with these, but just about everyone I know has broken them and I've never seen the value of getting them, especially on a new car.

Anyhow i tried my best with hand tools to get the chunk out of the key adapter, but no luck. I gave it to one of the guys in the machine shop at work and they're going to take a carbide bit to it and hopefully break it up.

I just hope i can get the remain nuts off of the other wheels without breaking them.

I went ahead and ordered new lugs today too.

Just a rant.

i was only able to get one off before it broke it on the other front wheel. The previous owner took his car in for maintenance as he said he wasnt that mechanically inclinded, just one of the reasons why I try to do most of my own work or at least watch the installer with a keen eye.

my friend over tightened mine on my aftermarket lug nuts with lock key and they were more than just 85-95lbs and the key broke

so then i had to buy a brand new key, cause the old one split , and the only way to get the lug nuts off was a 4foot breaker bar.....

next time make sure he checks the setting on the air impact wrench

Either they over torqued them or the damn impact gun wore the key out.

True, they are kind of a pain because I went to DC (50 minutes away from my house) to get my brakes and rotors put on.. Guess what, I forgot the wheel lock at home lols.... Damn was I pissed, I actually went during rush hour and I hit one hour and 30 mins getting there. But yeah they are nice just because no one can **** with you. I wouldn't want my rims to be stolen whether they are factory or not, they are expesive POS lol.. Anyways, my .02

I dont have an issue with securing my wheels, i have problems with poorly designed mass-distributed wheel locks that dealers try stuffing down peoples throats. I'll admit that there are probably good designs out there, but thats not the case with the ones I have. They just dont provide an adequate leverage point to allow safe and accurate installation/removal...I'll stick with tuner lugs that have unique outer diameter designs.
