throttle problem..

has anyone on this forum experianced the same problem im having?

i just bought my 06 coupe 6mt a month ago. 10k miles on it.

this past week everytime im cruzing around on the streets. and in any of the gear (excpet for first), my RPM meter jumps up and drops down then i feel the car taking off.

for instance, im in fourth gear about to hit 40MPH at 2500RPM and want to punch it. i hit the gas and the car bearly moves. the RPM meter jerks to 3500RPM and goes back down between 2700-3000RPM before i even feel the car taking off.

is this normal??

hmm... i would not be surprised that the car is sluggish in 4th around 2500... i would imagine it slugs form 2500 to close to 3100 and then powers up... but im not sure about the rev going up then back down... sounds weird... take her to the dealership

fyi: if you wanna punch it going 40mph... do it in 2nd or 3rd

i dont really mean punch it. but just to gas it some more so it'll pick up more speed in that gear. just doesnt take off right when i hit hte throttle, it lags.

wow.. sounds like your clutch is gone and is slipping, hence the rpms's flying up and then coming back down once the clutch plates start biting again. but if it's not doing it in first... that's very strange.

Clutch or TB... Strange that a TB could become clogged after 10,000 miles though.

Definitely a clutch. Whoever previously owned the car obviously didnt know how to drive an MT worth sh*t and also most likely hosed the transmission as well. Take it back and have them fix it.

+1... just reread and notice you bought it used. Clutch could easily be fried by 10K with a poor driver.

not so good news from the dealer. i took it to them this morning and was told that my clutch was slipping. so its time for a new clutch. anyone with any ideas on what kind of an aftermarket clutch i should get? i was thinking about an ACT performance clutch. what do you guys think. i would get a stock one from the dealer but they told me it'll cost me almost $3k to get a new one. thanks in advance!
