They are most likely going to go off in a low speed crash where it's not necessary and I'm not paying to change them. I disabled them on the previous cars I had but this one is "different"

Since the car is so fun to drive, were I to get into an accident, I imagine it would be greater than 40mph, not less than 30mph. Airbags seem like a good idea.

Is your G only used for residential driving? A crash at 20mph will do enough damage (I think) that repairs will be pricey regardless of if you need to recharge the airbags.

Just my opinion.

Make sure you tell your insurance company. I'm sure they'll appreciate your proactivity.

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

+1...dumbest idea I've heard yet.

(Then again, Darwin's work needs to be done somehow...)

You could take them off and disconnect the wire harness

And there is nothing dumb about that.

I don't like air bags either.

I wear glasses and last thing I want is to have a bomb blow up in my face in a 30mph accident and shove them glasses down my skull.

There are two torx screws you need to loosen (these are a pain in the ***). then just pull the center airbag out and unclip the two colored clips. You need two resistors to plug into the stock harness so that the airbag light does not come on. If you choose to do this you would need to unhook the battery before you embark on this.

Ditto.

Doesn't even sound like he carries insurance if he's paying to replace them.

EDIT: Aren't there laws against knowingly disabling or removing a legislated safety device?

What kind of resistors please?

The FSM details removal and installation. I just need resistors.

Another question. Would putting resistors on the driver harness disable all airbags or just the driver airbag?

I understand your point, but how can predict at what speed you're going to have an accident? (If you could, it wouldn't be an accident!)

I'll take a 30mph airbag to the face over a steering wheel anytime!

I would be concerned with older model airbags just because they caused serious burns. Nowaday it seems they are safer than they were. The G's have dual stage airbags, which means they are good for either small( slow ) accidents and the worst of them all as well. I dont think its wise but whatever tickles your pickle! <-----(that was so gay lol!)

Disabling the air bags is not a stupid idea if you have children or ride with little people. Deployed airbags can seriously injure a child.
