mine has 2 G's... "Grey" and "Ghost"...

I have way to much free time... Think you're onto it. In the 60's and 70's GT typically meant "gran turismo." Even on american cars such as the GTO and mustang GT's. That "o" stands for "omologato." I had no idea what that meant but from what i gather online. Its a factory racer thats street legal. And it has its roots in Ferrari, which makes and made race cars that are street legal. "gran turismo omologato" <--Italian to English--> "Grand Touring Homologated" or in simple terms, Approved for grand touring. So IDK, but had some time to look around.

Here's some more meanings that stem with GT

GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato) a homologated car for racing (used by Ferrari, Pontiac and Mitsubishi).
GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) a convertible GT car. For example the Ferrari 348 GTS.
GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta) a coupe style GT. For example the Ferrari 328 GTB.
GTV (Gran Turismo Veloce) a fast GT car. For example the Alfa Romeo GTV6.
GTI or GTi (Gran Turismo Iniezione) a fuel injected GT, first used on the 1961 Maserati 3500 GTI.
GTE or GT/E (Einspritzung - German for fuel injection) used on the Opel Manta GT/E.
GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) a lightened GT car. For example the Alfa Romeo GTA.
GTAm (Gran Turismo Alleggerita Modificata) a modified, lightened GT car such as the Alfa Romeo GTAm.
GTC (Gran Turismo Compressore/Compact/Cabriolet/Coupe/Crossover) for example Alfa Romeo 6C 1750

I have way way way to much free time. Anyway. know its late but there's what i found out. Don't know if its right as i said. but from this one definition i think it is.

"A grand tourer (Italian: gran turismo) (GT) is a high-performance luxury automobile designed for long-distance driving. The most common format is a two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement." Sounds about right. except for the sedan models...

The G doesn't represent anything, it's just a model designation like M, FX etc. but I would also like to think of it as Gangsta lol

I always thought the original Pontiac Tempest GTO was named so because it meant "Grand Touring Option"
