Dog in the car

So I have this dog that I like to take places. To the beach, park, friends' places or what have you. However, I took him in my G for the first time recently (only had the G for about a month now) and one of his nails put a little puncture hole in my leather. The hole is very small and hardly noticeable, but I don't want this to happen all over the seats. Do you guys have any solutions for traveling with a dog in the backseat? I had a towel and a sheet covering the seat, but they slid up some from him moving around thus exposing the leather for him to stand on. I know some companies make thick, canvas-like covers made to fit certain cars specifically and they don't slide around, but I haven't found one for the G. Mind you his nails are trimmed properly.

I have a 2004 G35 Sedan.

Thanks for any help!

Go and get some kind of foam padding to put over the seat and then put your sheet, towel and whatever else over it. I actually took 2 old bed sheets and 2 old towels and put those over the foam I cut. I just tucked them behind the seat itself and my leather hasn't sustained any damage yet.

The pic in the other thread sent chills down my spine. scary ****.

I carry a 70lb boxer in the back seat of my sedan almost daily. During one of my spirited driving sessions, she dug her nails into the back seat for grip and left a 3" tear in one of the seats...I ended up replacing the torn section.

Now I carry a cheap blanket that i fold and drape over the seat when she's in the car. Really helps with the cleanup too. I just tuck it between the seat and back portions to be prevent it from sliding.
You can also buy a pet seat cover at petedge.com (or any pet store), they're pretty standard -- hook around the headrests, tuck between the cushions, and tuck under the seat.

Thanks for the reply! PetEdge has them for about $20, but black and khaki are on backorder until June Petsmart has them but they are about $40 bucks. I am gonna search around the web for the brand PetEdge carries and hopefully find one! Thanks, it is exactly what I'm looking for.
