Clicking Front Cover
have had my g35 for almost 2 months and love it.
its 04 coupe with 50k.
just turned her on and am hearing light clicking sound from
what seems to be the right front cover. top right front of engine when looking at it. close to intake.
it does seem to be rpm variant but cant really tell because its not very loud.
i have search and see lot of axle nut thread but i dont think
this noise is coming to from axle. no cel & does not seem to be
affecting performance.
any ideas?

man for reals..same here...went to the dealer and they said they couldn't do nothing but charge me cause I got and stupid aftermarket air filter and they think it might be causing the clicking noise but the noise seem to be coming from the axle and everytime i shift at a lower speed I can hear the click..Freak the dealer they're a waist of my time but it's not causing any performance..

no aftermarket air filter only ztube and drop in k+n.
since i drove the car a bit more it i guess it may be coming from axle but cant really pin it down. when i have my friend rev it and im listening in the engine bay it really seems to come from the front right of the engine bay.
got an app't at dealership tomorrow morning.
its not loud at all and my friend seems to think its may be a belt rubbing somewhere. do g35's have issues with the belts?

Does the axle clicking tsb also apply to front axle?
Clicking is definately coming from front of car.
Can anyone get the link for the tsb.
Im trying to find it from the link in the axle fixed thread but link is dead.
Trying to find it on infinitihelp...

So it was the belts...
Got the 04 over to Orlando Inifiniti and the tech was listening all over with a stethescope. When he finally narrowed it down to the front of the engine bay he lifted the car saw 1 of the belt was frayed. Service advisor looked up my vehicles service history and seen all of the oil changes done at Miami Infiniti dealership but noticed long time period with low mileage. My g35 was a corporate lease and seems it may have been stationary for long periods in the florida heat. I figure this to be partially true as the sunroof visor rubber seal is completely toast and cracked.
On a side note...
About a month ago while traveling through some road construction in cent. florida the lanes were uneven and damaged my underhood engine liner. I removed it becuase it was rubbing my front tire and the ground and no less than 3 weeks later my belts were making funny noises. Moral of the story keep your under engine liner intact and functional as it will save at the very least your belts.
Orlando Infiniti charging me 149.00 to replace belts, which I thought was fair and told them to go ahead. Techs let me watch while he looked for noise and service advisor was straight forward. I got an 07 sedan loaner till tomorrow morning, autotragic of course. I really, really love my 6-speed now, auto is way to jerky in manual mode and doesn't get near as good mpg as my 04 6speed ( 07 sedan has real time mpg display ), my coupe sounds way better too.
