Unhappy Are G35's really this problematic???

I want to get a 2005 G35 Coupe really bad, but I keep finding thread after thread about the problems with this car. The main 4 things I keep seeing are...
1. Oil Consumption
2. Rattles and Creaks
3. Poor Gas Milage
4. Poor Tread Life

Is it possible to find a G w/o these problems? Or at least not all of these problems? How do y'all deal with the problems, or does it not bother you.

P.s. I'm not dissing the car. I love G's, and want to own one. This is not an attack, I just want some info.

Thanks,
James

2. Rattles and Creaks- wtf are you talking about? the only rattling is from my blower...
3. Poor Gas Milage- deal with it.
4. Poor Tread Life- learn to drive.

every car has problems be lucky they were found before you got the car and had to find out the hard way....use this to negotiate with a dealer and make sure the things pointed out are addressed before you purchase

1. Oil Consumption- only on MT's
2. Rattles and Creaks- I've read of them, But my 04 doesnt have a single crak or rattle to be heard
3. Poor Gas Milage- Considering the car has some respectable HP and TQ numbers I dont find the milage that bad at all. I reguarly get 17-19MPG doing 95% of my driving in town... Also back to the aforementioned HP and TQ numbers, this can lead to HFS also known as "Heavy Foot Syndrome" and one of the main effects of this is lower MPG
4. Poor Tread Life- Again I think one of main contributing factors to this is also due to "HFS"

1. Oil Consumption:
2003-2004 and 07-08 haven't had as many problems

2. Rattles and Creaks:
usually just the rearview mirror. It has a lot a **** within it so you may want to pop it open and tape things up

3. Poor Gas Milage:
20-28 mpg is pretty good for a high HP car.

4. Poor Tread Life:
dont get z rated tires and buy a front camber kit to help with the inner wear issues that may occur

To the original poster:

Oil consumption really only affects the revups(05 or newer 6MTs). If you stay on top of it, it shouldn't be a problem.

The car does have its share of rattles and creaks.

Gas Mileage - it's a sporty car. If you're not going to drive it, then its not the car for you.

Tires - same thing.

Thanks! (and everyone else who posted) The oil, gas, and tire stuff doesnt bother me when you put it like that. And I'll turn the radio up if the car creaks

Mine is an 07 Coupe and it is as follow;

1. Oil Consumption - Not at all, I use Castrol and I change it every 5,000 Kms the dealer reckons it can last longer, But i prefer it that way.

2. Rattles and Creaks- It started to rattle the minute I lowered it. No creeks tho.

3. Poor Gas Milage - It really depends on how I drive it. I sometime can get 450km on a tank.

4. Poor Tread Life - Not al all, execpt if you drift it alot, I changed My treads once after a day at the track.

1. Like stated many times before, the oil consumption pertains only to the 05+ with manual tranny.

2. My sedan has tons of rattles and creaks along with a bad rear door seal, but my brother in law's coupe's dash creaks.

3. I get pretty good gas mileage.

4. If you get a real alignment where they take your weight and adjust the toe accordingly, you should be fine. But if your alignment shop just adjusts your toe to be "within specs", you might have to worry about this.

1. I have an '05 6MT with 38K...(had it for 3 months) ZERO oil consumption signs, and i check regularly...

2. I've yet to hear any rattles...but then again, i always ride with some music bumpin'

3. The gas mileage isnt THAT bad, you just gotta keep for foot out of it. (Which is very hard to do, lol). Highway mileage is much better.
Get yourself a CHEAP beater, that's good on gas.

4. ^ will fix that issue as well.

IMO the G is a great car, it rattles, but I think that is from my sub, but who cares, it looks good, drives well, gas mileage if you want good gas mileage, dont look for performance.
