How I messed up my brakes

By washing my car. I washed it 2-3 times/week for months. Everytime I went to the car wash I washed the brake dust off with high pressure water and that was within less than 30sec after stopping the car.

So the cold water+hot *** rotors=fvcked up brakes.

There are no sings off warped rotors or glazed pads but the water messed them up so the brakes are noisy now and calipers skip off the rotors on hard braking.

I'm just posting this as a warning to anyone else who washed their car like I did.
This is the thread I started before I found out this is what caused it.

Thanks for the heads up i am guilty of that myself but i do make sure to wait atleast 5mins after stopping, while i organize my supplies and get the token etc... is that sufficient wait to let the brakes cool off enough to avoid warped rotors or should it be around 8-10mins??

Sorry to hear about the problem but you aren't the first person to do that and won't be the last.

I learned the hard way about 10 years ago. You may be able to find someone on Frenzy that could help you replace the rotors...they aren't too expensive if you buy them online.

I think I have to replace the pads and rotors. I can change all that myself but my front and rear bumper needs new paint and I'm doing that first Should do brake first

the same thing can happen if you hit a huge water puddle while breaking hard it warps them to where the steeringwheel shakes when breaking
