Well, the GTR is the most popular import car in history, so I assume everyone is going to want the GTR rims for their personal car.
Is anyone going to produce a GTR reproduction wheel that will mount up to Infiniti cars?


I have a 2008 G35x and I was going to run the rear wheels from a G37s at all 4 corners. But. I'd like to find out if the a GTR repro is going to be made available in the same size/offset of the G37s rim before I pull the trigger.

If anyone reading this is in the aftermarket or wheel business, you might want to jump on this idea ASAP. I think whoever does is going to make a lot of money.

 

The GT-R wheel is wider than the G's... a replica could definately be made with a narrower rim... but would there be a market?

As per our conversation, I believe the 2009 Nissan GTR "style" of wheel is going to be tremendously popular considering the 2009 GTR is the most popular automobile in the world right now and the pinnacle of the import car scene.

As we discussed, if a reproduction of this wheel was to be made in the size of the original equipment 2009 Infiniti G37"S" coupe REAR wheel, a wheel with those dimensions would be compatible with the Nissan 350z, All G35 and G37 models (coupe & sedan, RWD & AWD), and practically all late model Nissan vehicles. This size would also allow OEM brake upgrades and OEM tire choices along with full aftermarket support.

I only wish I was in your business or had the contacts within your industry so I could fund the project myself and reap the profits. Good luck with the venture. Please keep me posted.

 

What is the the size of the GTR front wheels and how do they fit on the G35x and G37s?

If you were in charge of this project, what size would you approve for the GTR reproductions?

 

seriously, i don't think it's going to be selling very well...you have to look at the big picture...how many infiniti owners mod their car? A very very little percentage. I was a saleman for a wheel mfg. company. The cost of making the mold to production cost quite a bit...and all of our replica lines are not good sellers (mustang, mercedes, M3) replica wheels. It might not have as big of a market as you would thought

Did you read my post? A wheel with the same dimensions as the G37S rear wheel could fit almost all late model Nissan/Infiniti models including the 350z and G coupes and sedans. I think that market is pretty wide. Don't you?

Seeing that the 2009 Nisssan GTR is the pinnacle of import performance, isn't that design an obvious choice?

If my thinking is off, I will concede. But, I can't see how it is at this point.


CCW rims are the best available rims for the money. But, the G35x isn't my "race" car, so I'm not spending the $2,500 on rims. THe CCW 505a are the best looking rims in my opinion.

Yes, i did read your post...again, as someone with years of experience in the wholesale wheel industry, I'm telling you that it would be a risk to partake in this investment.

Remember, G35 sedans and coupes have different offsets. Even if the wheel that is being produced can fit a majority of nissans/infinitis, but how many are willing to buy that wheel?

It will be a big risk nontheless. Fronting up money enough for the mold, exact specifications, R&D, and ordering minimum amounts of wheels before the factory will even make it for you. Just letting you know the cons of your idea.

but feel free to proceed if you really feel strongly. Don't let other people stop you if you really believe that it's a good idea. I may be wrong and you might get rich off of this...

I don't dismiss your professional experience. I also took into account each and every factor you mentioned. I still believe this will be a wise move for anyone in the wheel business.

 

Who makes the OEM wheels for GTR? Maybe Rays Engineering like they do for the 2005-2007 6mt coupes with 19's.

Fully load GTR's run with 20's, for whoever ask. Base model...IDK what size on those...19's?

Cool idea and best of luck to you, but wouldn't look twice if no staggard set-up avail. Would never run non-staggard set-up with my G35 coupe.

I wonder what "most popular' means? I mean, i bet more toyota camrys have been sold and they're made by a japanese company right? so it can't be done by sales volume.....
