Spare Key for an Auto start

I am looking into upgrating to a viper alarm/auto start for my coupe. For the autostart i need to have another key. When i bought the car it came with just 1. so i need to go to the dealer to get a spare key made The delership wants to charge me $130.00 for the key, plus $60.00 to program the keys.

Is there any cheaper way to do this?

is that the price for a blank key? They don't have to cut it as the install of the viper system will just cut the chip out of it.... you can also see about various moduals that allow bypass of the factory system thus allowing you to not need the spare key part of the setup (at least this is what I have been told, I have yet to do anything like this!).

You don't have to use the bypass that uses an actual key. You can get a bypass module that does not require a key. The XK05 (http://www.bypasskit.com/product.aspx?prodid=XK05) is one example. If you would have to get a new key programmed ($190 in your case), it would be much cheaper just to buy a bypass (~$50) that doesn't require the key to stay in the car. BTW, I have the XK05 in my G with my Clifford RSX 3.3 (Same as the Viper 5701) and it works perfectly.
