hey guys,

i'm a newbie girlie girl here and am hoping you can help me out! i have a 2003 g35 sedan and my car was rear ended while parked in my neighborhood! no witnesses, no license plates, nada. all i found was black plastic pieces off of some part of a Honda. the piece reads "HONDA <POM>".

so now my bumper is crushed, fenders are scratched and messed up and my in dash cd player is not working now. i have 2 cd's in there and am getting the message "CD ERROR FO". i've contacted my insurance and the body shop has provided a reasonable quote. HOWEVER, the insurance has only approved the body work and not the stereo replacement. they said they will send their guy out to review and verify that the CD error is a result of the accident and will let me know if its approved or not.

my question to you guys- how do i make a convincing argument that indeed, the impact of the crash caused my cd player to stop working?? what is the exact cause of the FO error? could the cd's have shifted during impact? could the laser have been damaged?

i'm so sad and torn that this happened to my G =(. i'm such a careful driver and have never crashed or damaged my car.

please help!

 

proving the accident caused the headunit to malfunction is gonna be quite difficult, so I'm not sure what the heck you can say...

Try looking for a used headunit on ebay.

 

I'm pretty certain the new headunits which feature MP3 and 6 cd's are able to work in the previous years.

thanks, but i want to try to not have to pay more than i'm already paying to get the car fixed. since the jerk drove off, my insurance is paying for it and i have to pay the deductible.

btw, does this cd error mean there is something wrong with the headunit? i looked at the ebay link you sent and its also used. how do i know if that didn't have the same problem? what do i look for? sorry, i don't know too much about the technical stuff.

 

where do you live??? hehe..well I do have the OEM bose system unit..if you need it then I can sell it to you..all the disc changer and everything is intact and works perfectly..well let me know..sorry to hear bout you're G..got any photos??

 

by ur cd player messing up its only a matter of time b4 it starts messing with ur climate control... im on my 3rd stock headunit now.... might want to see if it is still under warranty by chance..... if not im bout to get a jdm dd kit so id sell mine and its the new updated one and bout 3 months old


btw: the claims adjuster probably knows bout our ****ty headunits and theres nothing u could say to convince him the wreck caused it...sorry just my $.02

 

I just bought a G35, and have the same cd error.

I don't think you can use an MP3 changer.

You'll need to take your car apart, something I am not looking forward to myself.

It'll cost you about $250 for a reconditioned player with 3 month warranty (after $100 rebate for your old player)
