05 warranty question!!

First off any and all help is greatly appreciated. I took my car in for a suspension thud in the front end of the vehicle after hitting a pot hole. The dealership told me that they "think" it the compression rod bushings have loosened up and that is causing my noise. I was informed that due to the pot hole the items are not covered under warranty and that the vehicle would need an alignment afterwards for a total cost of $535.00. Now my question is why wouldn't this be covered under the manufactures warranty. I told them about the pot hole incident and maybe I shouldnt have since they are using that as a leverage point against the warranty covering the damage. So my question is should I argue to have it warrantied or just suck it up and pay for it and hope that it fixes the noise? Thanks again.

there is a service bulletin about compression rod bushings. Head over to infinitihelp.com and look it up. The thud/squeak/grinding sound is described in the bulletin. The pothole only help this badly designed bushing fail earlier than it already will.
