Bought a 06 G Sedan, the compass is stuck???

So I just picked up the wife a 2006 G Sedan with 25K on it for $16,900. So far she loves the car. It is pearl white with tan leather, all options but Navi and AWD.

My question is, her compass is stuck at NE and will not move. Is there a way to reset it? Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Did you try turning it off and back on? There is a button just below it to turn it off.

this is a long shot but could there be some magnetic interference? It could "peg" a digital or analog compass

you could test this exposing the compass to another magnet around it in different directions and seeing if it changes - if it changes you have to find what around it is magnetic - of course the thing just might be pooched too...

Check the manual, I vaguely recall there being a compass reset/calibration procedure. It involves going to a parking lot and driving in circles for a while, but I don't recall the exact specifics and i don't have the manual nearby.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position
while pressing the COMP switch.
3. Continue to press the COMP switch for
more than 5 seconds until the current zone
entry number is displayed on the compass.
If any operations are not carried out for more
than 5 seconds, the display shows direction as
normal.
4. Press COMP switch repeatedly until the
new zone entry number is displayed.
Once the desired zone number is displayed,
stop pressing the COMP switch and the display
will show compass direction within a few
seconds.

Correction procedure
1. Push COMP switch for about 10 seconds.
The direction bar starts blinking.
2. Turn off electrical equipment such as lights,
hazard indicator, air conditioner, etc. Then
drive the vehicle slowly (less than 3 MPH (5
km/h)) and turn the vehicle one or more
times in an open and safe area. When the
compass displays the direction, the procedure
is completed

well i just accidently reset mine and had to do this myself 2 days ago, just do what it says, to reset it press the switch for 10 secs untill it starts blinking, turn all the accesories off radio , lights etc, start driving the car but don't give it any gas u gotta keep it under 3MPH and make 2 full turns , so drive in a circle in a safe spot like a parking lot, i think it matters when u make those circles make sure u make them CLOCKWISE, counterwise didn't work for me but CLOCKWISE DID, as u finish the second turn the compass should start showing the direction

I will give this a shot, if not I am just going to take it by the dealer since the car is still under warranty.
