Seriously what is the obsession with trunk escape latches? There are 3 of them in my car. The regular trunk mounted one to release the back seat to fold down, the trunk lid one to pop the trunk from the inside, and a 3rd hidden one you find it you lift up the carpet at the back of the trunk at the base of the back seat. That one is especially stealthy buried deep with a red fabric pull loop.
What gives?
What gives?

Are the "escape" latches bothering you? I'd rather have them there than not.

...and don't even get me started on the guy I stuffed in there over some gambling debts last february...

BTW, do you really think Japanese cars are the only cars with escape latches? And I guess I'm failing to understand why it would be odd to have escape latches, especially multiple ones. It's not difficult for people to disable to most obvious ones.
Chris - let's super glue your rear seats closed and disable the all the escape latches. in fact, let's remove them all together. it'll be a weight saving mod.

I apologize if I hit on a sensitive area. No offense intended.

See my post relating to the defectively designed trunk wiring loom and getting locked out of the trunk of the G35 coupe. Climbing into the trunk, on my back, while wearing a dress suit, to pull the emergency release was the only way to retrieve my brief case to go to work (as a trial lawyer).

Nissan could have offered a key actuated mechanical trunk release as a supplement to the electrical actuator.
Like BMW does.
