This should help you with your question about the tint, as for that plate someone else is gonna have to help you there.

Same cops/pigs/popo's that pulled you over and suck also keep you from getting your *** blown off. Grow up.... we all want rights but not the responsibilities required to maintain them!!!! 95 db turns your car into a public nuisance, especially in residential areas late at night or very early in the morning. The trouble with most of us is that we're so cocksure stupid and we think we're right using this f****d up logic that we always operate with highest and most noble motives.

And, so how else would you suggest that protective services be paid for--- higher taxes, which everyone of course would prefer!!!

Incidentally, tint laws aren't about revenue, they're about safety: other drivers must be able to see your head/face when you're behind the wheel.

Tint laws are about safety? are you kidding me? i mean if you tint your windows to where they can't see inside then i can understand. but in cali you can't have any type or aftermarket tints at all. That's just bs. even at 35% tint you can still see inside of the car. so tint law is not all safety.

We are talking safety for the police officers who have to conduct traffic stops. For the officer who approaches a vehicle on, what they believe to be a simple traffic stop, not having any idea who or what is waiting for them in the car. Like a felon wanted on a warrant. How about a driver or passenger with a sizable quantity of narcotics? Or a child being kidnapped?

Far and away most police officers killed in the line of duty are killed during traffic stops.

Problem is that the law does not recognize the same level of privacy that people have inside their homes. "Privacy Tint" or "Limo Tint" in a private car only makes law enforcement suspicious of something being hidden that may affect their safety or that of the public. Why give the "cops" that extra reason to be suspicious?

If you want to criticize what I think is a senseless law let's pick on Seat Belt laws. It has no effect on anyone other than the non-belted driver or adult passenger. Yet in many states they constitute the basis for a primary stop. Even if only a passenger is not belted up.

I disagree that safety/equipment and nuisance violations are about money for governments. Usually evidence that the offending component has been removed or repaired gets the ticket dismissed without a fine.

You have to admit if the entire point of getting many of these mods is grabbing attention how can you complain when you are in fact getting that attention.... albeit from the police?

Yes, CHP could, if they were dicks, write you up for the tint and plate when you go to get signed off for the exhaust.

That said, the cheap and easy fix is to make a gasket for the exhaust out of aluminum or stainless that only has a 1" hole and slip it in the joint, go get the ticket signed off, then take it back off.

I've gotten my fair share of fix-it tickets.

For all those "fix-it" tickets don't you have to take off time from work (and therfore lose income) to go to court????

Like i said..If the tint was so dark that an officer could not see who is inside the vehicle then i can understand that it would be a safety issue.

I just went with a buddy to sign off his tint ticket, and the cop noticed he had no front plate and would not sign the ticket off. He stated that he could not sign off a ticket IF the car has violations. We went to home depot and got some tape and stuck it on real quick to get it signed off. I still to this day don't get why the front plate is needed. I mean what cop has time to read someones plate going the other direction? IMO what a waste of time and 10$.

No, you have to go to the local CHP field office/station and they will have one of the officers walk out front with you and sign off the violations, takes 5-10 minutes.

The only time they really screw you is when they mark the violation "Non-correctable" meaning you still have to get it corrected, then signed off, but you have to pay the full fine (usually 80-120ish) at the local courthouse instead of just the $10 fee to the CHP.
