I bought an 03 G35 sedan a while ago, but it didn't come with the navigation DVD. I'll buy one, but they're expensive so I want to make sure the system works first.

When I pop up the screen it doesn't turn on. I figured I should be able to use the vehicle information portion of the system without the disc, but I can't get anything to work. Is there any way to at least turn on the screen?

I thought maybe navi problems were common, but searching on these forums doesn't bring up many instances of the navi breaking.

I thought it would give an error if the disk was not in the drive. What happens if you start with the key out of the ignition, put the screen up, and then start the car. Does the screen light up at all?

You could also try to find someone in your area that would let you borrow their DVD for a couple of minutes to try it out.

 

Nothing. The screen doesn't turn on at all.

I'll probably just take it to the dealer and ask them to check it out.
