Does anyone get shocked when they get out of their car?
I keep getting shocked and im trying to figure out whether its the weather or whether something isnt grounded properly (sub, etc) or if its just a normal thing. I know its common in cloth cars but ive got leather!
Actually if you are getting shocked it means you ARE properly grounded. What happens (especially in winter when the air is dry) is electrons(charge) build up on things, like your clothes, hair, etc. When there is an excess of electrons built up and you touch the metal in your car you are completing a path for these electrons to flow through, ie electrical current. Since the metal on your car is grounded, the electrons will flow from the excess to the ground. This is why you are getting shocked.
Get shocked all the time around the house, touching the kids or giving the wife a kiss, sometimes turning on and/or off lights. It's worse in the winter.
Never happens getting out of the G that I can recall though.

Never shocked by the G but i rarely drive it but in my accord, it hurt so bad that i make an effort to shut the door by the rubber seal around the glass, LOL, im talking make your eyes water shock! i think mine is a combo of velour seats and carpet!
I've always been getting shocked coming out of the G. Since our doors are heavy and they close with the slightest of touches, I've gotten used to closing the door with my right forearm or elbow. As I step out I press my arm on top of the window and give it a slight nudge. Glass is a poor conductor so this most always prevents any shocks.
If you get shocked it doesn't hurt because you don't have as many nerve endings on your arm compared to your finger tips.

When you are getting out of your car, just grab the roof(or any metal portion) before and while your feet touches the ground. This will release the static to your car and electricity will be equal.
Still, I forget and I get shocked just about every time
