painting headlights?

instead of buying the eyelids ings+1 style eyelids i was going to just either paint my own just like those or paint all of the grey-silverish area or something like that on the headlights themselves the same color as my car...is this a good idea?? i have a buddy that works at a professional autobody shop and he said he do it the factory color as long as i got him the paint...just wondering if anyone has done this or if i should try it.....let me know guys!!! and if i do it ill post pics of em on the car...thanks!!
