Hi, guys. Alright, I've narrowed my choice of vehicle down to three: The G35, Acura TL, and Lexus LS430.
While each car holds its own fondness in my heart, I was hoping the members here could detail what type of repairs you've had to incur over the course of ownership. I'm not talking about brakes/tires/fluid changes, but things such as clutches, water pumps, and other WTF type fixes. Oh, I'm really looking hard at a G35 6MT with about 35k on the motor, if that helps at all. Thanks!!!

What year G35 is it and are you planning on having highway miles or city mostly?
For the clutch, city driving will let it last about 60k-70k roughly, and if it's more highway, it can last a very long time. Vhtran, a member here, is at 125k+ miles on his OEM clutch and he said it still has life, idk if it's mostly highway but I would assume so. He also said he drives hard regularly.
03-04 have cases of window motors failing. Stay away from the 03, although you can get a perfect 03, they will have more problems on average than any other model year since they were brand new. Axle clicking is a common problem, but all you have to do is grease a joint on your axle and it goes away. G35's are pretty reliable.

get the 6mt, you won't be disappointed.
mechanically the VQ is very strong and you shouldn't have any issues with the motor or trans... on the 05+ models some have an oil consumption problem but it's a recall or something so you just end up getting a new motor.
also, Gs usually have a few rattles and squeaks but the car is so fun to drive they probably won't bother you

Pretty major thing to be aware of if you are considering an 05+ 6MT.

Thanks Darkstar, most of my mileage are city. It's more like 70% city and %30 hwy. If hwy traffic (bumpers to bumpers) both times (work/home) considered city? OP, it's really hard to compare w/o the specs of all of those cars. You mind giving us more info on those?
