Hopefully the 05 coupe mt I bought didn't have the tranny ran into the ground. 67K miles, but the clutch still feels tight.

It's also dependant on the individual car. Some cars are made well and other ones got the wrong mix of parts. Just the luck of the draw i guess. SOme guys have G's with zero issues period, while others have nothing but probs.

Prior to my G35, i drove a '03 Mustang GT. I owned it since new. 5 years and 70,000 miles i didn't have a single issue. Never had a warranty claim, no TSB's, no problems at all. Other than oil changes and replacing wearable items (brakes, tires, fluids, wipers) I never had to fix a thing on that car. Even at the end of the warranty i couldn't find a single minor issue to bring it in for. I traded it in nearly 6 years later with $0 spend in repair costs (warranty or non-warranty)

Now with my G, i hope i can have the same luck. So far so good. knock on wood

2003 infiniti g35

between 60k - 85k these are the problems i came across...

Cd player error FO - had to get a new cd player
seats problem where they squeak and are not fitted properly
compression rods / control arms - both left and right sides gone. needed to get new ones
IPDM- intelligent power distribution module needs to be replaced.

3 out of 4 of those things were/are $500+ to repair.

Online forums are the worst places to do reliability research because that's where everyone goes to post about their problems. For example, the Toyota Corolla is probably the most reliable car in history and yet online forums are full of problems.

It's better to trust some authoritative sources like True Delta and Consumers Reports. If they all say the G is reliable (and they do) then it's a safe bet.

Semi reliable...

You got a lot of annoying problems, nothing too drastic. Mine were all covered by warranty:

Window motors.. once driver side, twice passenger

Door lock actuators.. Both driver and passenger went out

Whining differential..

Driver side front brake caliper failed.. <-- Never heard of that one before though.

Oh and this car is the worst car i've owned that has had issues with headlights fogging up.. This is an 03-05 issue mainly.

Other than that the G35 is a solid car.. Its fun to drive and highly respected.

I agree. On the forums, people ask questions about probs. They don't really say "Today i tried to start my car....and it started fine and i drove to work okay"

No real major problems with my car since I've owned it (bought Feb. 04 and I know have close to 100k miles on it. I love driving this thing. What can I say?)

Only issues I've had is:

compression rods = fixed by dealership under warranty

rear axle click = fixed by dealership under warranty

driver and passenger side motors died = fixed by dealership under warranty

car accident = my fault. lol

82K miles on my 05 and not a single problem yet. It literally runs like it was when it was new. Knock on wood.

I have to say that my G35 has had much more maintenance done to it than my Honda Accord EX 6. However, I bought the G used and I had purchased the Accord new and owned it for 9 years.

I have had a couple thousand dollars worth of maintenace done on my G in the first year of owning it, but that very well could have been attributed to the previous owner's maintenance standards. At the same time, I'm **** about the condition of my car, inside and out, so that probably has attributed to the amount of maintenace I've had done as well.

I love my car and drive the hell out of it; I take care of it as well. I have had a great experience with my dealership as well. Based on my own personal experience and every review I've ever read, these cars are great cars and above average in reliability.
