Try cleaning the MAF and see if mpg improves. I clean mine every time I service my air filter. 17-19 city, 23-25 fwy. I has lead foot too most of the time.

Except I noticed: when I put the cheap Arco gas in (91 rating), I can get from SF,CA to Norwalk,CA on a tank of gas --NO BS!!
but when I'm driving local, I get really horrible mileage.. I average a little less then 100miles per 1/2 tank (200-220 mi/tank) .. my 02 sensors work fine-- but I swapped in test pipes for my cats.. I had an adapter welded so that the 02 sensor doesn't trip but it still produces horrible mileage anyways -shrug-..
you can always tune your car to run more lean to avoid burning so much gas.
Also, try cleaning up your engine. a good bottle of seafoam will do the trick!
and that doesnt bother you 100miles per 1/2 tank?? lol bothers the hell outa me lol

It's almost impossible to compute mpg from the fuel level indicator. 1/2 doesn't mean 10 gallons. My '03 G35 has a 20 gallon tank, and when it reads completely empty with the fuel light on, it takes about 15.5 gallons, meaning there are 4.5 gallons left. If the needle was accurate over those 15.5 gallons, 1/2 would mean 7.7 gallons, so 107/7.7 = 13.9 mpg. I've seen this number a few times with stop and go city driving. Our cars suck at that usage scenario.

So, how have you been driving over those 107 miles? Lots of city driving or cold starts? If that's the case, it sucks, but that mileage could be normal. If, on the other hand, you got that with mostly smooth highway driving, something is wrong with your car.

It does bother me deeply, especially since I need to do alot of driving =/ but there's nothing I can do for now per se ... even when my cats were on, I'd get horrible mileage.. I've changed the oil, try driving like a Grandma, used 100 octane for a few fill ups (my god, at 6.50 a gallon, I was hoping it would have burned slower and improve MPG) ...nothing
I think I might just have the ECU tuned to run leaner-- my car smells REALLY bad like gas (you can smell it's running too rich)

I've had my car for about a month now and I'm getting about 12 MPG on 70% city/30%HWY. I just thought it was the car.

I have since used fuel injector cleaner (Chevron), replaced air filter (k&n drop in), replaced the throttle body (was bad, can't remember the error code) oil change, and new tires (and brakes\rotors, but that has nothing to do with gas mileage, just making my wallet lighter). This has all been done in the last 2-3 weeks. I'll let you know if that helps the MPG, but so far it doesn't seem to be making any difference.

i just got my plugs changed.... and i feel like my has mileage is a bit worse than what it was.... ive been averaging 14-15 according to my leaf detector in my NAV..... and I noticed this almost instantly.. I can not imagine getting 10, that would drive me crazy... Before the change i would consistantly avg around 18mpg city.... I am going to bring it back to the shop, be the PITA I am and make them pull 2-3 plugs and check the gap, if its wrong they can get me new plugs and do it over .... Considering they charged me 3 hours labor to change my valve cover and plugs (i had leaky 6th plug) I feel like they deserve to pull a plug or two anyway....

If those are gapped correctly I will go down the list of things I need to change to see if it helps.... My coupe has 96k so I can expect things like this to come up, as they would happen in any car, but a car with under 50k miles should not really be running into these types of issues...

If i was under warranty I would just push to have them change your o2 sensors, MAF sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, one by one until the gas mileage raises back to the normal 18/26 avg it should be
