how much would it be to repair this?

Basically I was taking a really tight turn in a parking garage and I hit a pillar on the side of my car.

Is it better to tell insurance or pay out of pocket?

I think I have the $500 deductible coverage

If you go thru insurance it's gonna make insurance go up..but how it looks it's gonna be more than $500

It depends on the state I believe...

But say here in Colorado, it's better to just go through insurance, if the claim is under $1000, it's not legal for them to adjust your rate for the accident here. I'd check with your insurance agent about that. (You could possibly ask for a payout limited to that limit I think, i'm not sure, but *shrug*)

The price to fix that would vary from shop to shop. I would say it's gonna be ~$750ish. (I can't tell how bad it's dented, but completely replacing fender and painting basically)

Although Riverside Infiniti has the fender for $304 it looks like, and I think they're paint matched, but silver is one of those colors that it's hard to match perfect without blending.

Key words there ... if there were dents in the door that shoots the price up quite a bit. Thought the silver will be tough blending so it could go over $1000.

Like I said before though, it depends on the shop too. The shop I work with is a long time family friend, they do a great job. For a job that only cost me $700 there was quoted $1700 from the body shop Infiniti sends their cars too.

I'm pretty sure the rear quarter is welded so it's tougher to work on if they have to, and you also hit the side skirt so I would say your looking at 1000+ easily.

It's the rear pass. quarter panel. It's a pain to repair and almost impossiable to replace. The rear quater panels are one of the most expensive area to work on. I didn't pay for the repairs, but I asked my shop how much it would be for a full paint job and they said an extra $2000. $2500 is a "cheap" paint job in my area.

Damn pimp, Sorry to hear about that. I am unsure how the whole insurance thing works but it seems the more I Read, everyones leaning towards telling the insurance hit and run?, Good luck though. Let us know how much total it was when you get it fixed.

If I say it's hit and run, I think then I'll need a police report...and I don't feel like "walking further down the rabbit hole" if I don't have to.

Luckily I have this 500 deductible collision coverage from State Farm, and I pay out of my *** for insurance so it's about time I get something back for it. In fact, after I get them to pay for this, I'll probably switch to another company. This is what the policy says:

"Definition of Collision - means your car upset or hit or was hit by a vehicle or other object

We will pay for loss to your car caused by collision but only for the amount of each such loss in excess of the deductible amount"

AND MAYBE I CAN GET THEM TO PAY FOR A BODY KIT :P

I haven't got around to getting estimates yet on my car. My front bumper was scratched in a 3 car accident (I got off well compared to the other 2 cars, just sitting there at a red light, minding my own business, when 1 car ran a red and knocked another car into me).

As far as I can tell, it is just the bumper facade that needs to be replaced. No damage to the bumper under that. I would think that easier than sanding and painting the middle part of the bumper. The license plate cover I priced already at $50 online.

I didn't have the police report until about a week ago that gave the insurance information for the person who caused the accident.
