Hail Storm- UHHHH!!

I don't know if anyone else lives in southern GA, but my wife and I were down in Tifton, GA this weekend visiting family when a horrible hail storm came through. I had never seen anything like it. The hail was humongous.
So now everything that faced the sky has large dents in it and the windshield is cracked in a couple of places. Thank goodness for insurance.

I talked to the insurance company, if the body shop can say that the costs will be at least 75% of the value of the car, they can considered it totaled.
Then I can get a new G37s

It's usually 80%, but if they'll do 75%, and you're not upside down on the loan, it's a great deal. Did you have gap coverage? That's the good news.

The bad news is it's very unlikely there's enough damage to get it totaled. Your car (without knowing all it's options) is worth around $23,500. Since there's no structural damage, even if they had to replace the hood, trunk lid, and all 4 quarter panels, fix the dents in the roof, replace all the glass, and paint the whole car, it would still be less than $18,000.

That will probably be the case. I do have gap insurance if the need arises. We were thinking about trading the 35 in for a 37 anyway, but it would just be easier to have it totaled, but that may be a bridge to far.
They will probably have to replace all the panels, hood, roof, trunk, and trim, and repaint everything. There are chips in the windshield too. But $23k is probably wishful thinking. Im taking it tomorrow so we will see. Lets all pray for a new G37!!

I would definitely take it to an Infiniti dealer to have the work done. And unless you have high mileage (I figured 30K), the $23.5K I came up with was somewhat conservative. If it is totaled, I'd fight for more than that.

Good luck. What a pain in the ****.
