I've hit the 100k mark, and the G runs STRONG!

Do you guys know of anything I should be on the lookout for at this point? Anything known for failing around the 100k mark?

Also, any speculation on how many miles the VQ is good for?

A ton of miles if u look after it and changbe oil every 3k...

 

I'll be reaching a 100K in my 05 coupe 5AT as well. I've done the normal routine stuff:

Procedure/ Interval
Oil 5-8K
Air filters 15K
J-matic drain and fill 30K
Coolant 30K
Brake fluid flush 50K
Radiator cap every 2 years

Are there any belts and does the water pump need to be changed at 100K? This is the first car with a timing chain that I've owned. I think I could hold off on the shocks for a while, my sister's 04 Accord has 160K and it's now starting to be a little rough on the speed bumps.

 

I would definitely check the belts out to see if there are cracks, differential fluid, power steering fluid, cabin air filter, a/c, etc.

 

Don't bother checking the belts, just replace them if they're old. Belts are cheap and easy to do.

 

sparkplugs...if you haven't done so already. When you do, it's like your G comes back alive.

What is a GOOD brand of plugs to get for an 04 coupe? Non rev up? Just throwing it out there fellas. Thanks.

 

ngk's iridiums are great spark plugs

but do check your belts easy to replace but i wouldnt do it myself. Spark plugs are way easy only took me 20 min to change them out. there is a DIY here on how to change belts and spark plugs.

My advice on fluid change is count back when was the last time each fluid was changed and just add up the mileage to when each fluid needs to be changed. Example} diff. fluid change, every 60k miles

yeah they are. go to Kragen or Autozone the price is cheaper than the vendors sell them here for.

right now autozone is giving $6 back after mail in rebate.

price for all 6 plugs are $40

be sure to get iridiums not platnium. platnium is oem but cost much more and iridiums are overall better spark plugg

 

I am looking to get a Infiniti G35 in the future. Do you guys have with oil consumption problem with cars above 100,000 miles?

 

I'll be doing the plugs this summer with NGK Iridiums and forgot to mention diff fldui change every 30L (overkill I know but it's so easy) I'll have find someone for the belts...not doing that esp if the engine needs to be lifted. I hear the power steering fluid is generally ok to leave alone for along time like 200K. I'll probably just change out the fluid in the reservoir.

markkin... my 05 uses about 3/4 quart every 7500-8000 miles. I use Castrol 0W-30 from autozone. I drive somewhat agressively... car sees 4-6K revs on a daily basis and put on about 25K a year.

 

WhAt? no, change the belts yourself, that's one of the easiest maint services you can do yourself, just follow the video from bythabay. i did it for the first time about 2 months ago... just jack up the front(i use ramps from wal-mart $35), 4 bolts and your done
no way, 200k is insanely too long... just take a siphon hand pump for $4 and replace the fluid in the reservoir whever you change your oil. i just did mine at 70k and the fluid was burnt to hell.
