On the hunt

Hello all!!

i am on the hunt for a g35 and was wondering if there are any specific problems i should be looking for. I use to own a 03 350z and a very common problem was the "loose change" sound comming from the rear axle.
just curious if i should be listening or looking for probs like that.

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the Gs have the same powertrain along with many other shared parts as the Z... i would expect to come across the same if not similar problems. Rear axle click is the change sound you are referring to and there is a TSB for that so Infiniti/Nissan has owned up to that particular problem.

problems

1. Check to see that the G35 has the revised compression rods in the front.(lower suspension arms) I think it is about $300 for the revised arms.

2. Failed rear bushing that the diff attaches to. Leaks a silicone fluid out of the bushing. Repair is a whole new rear subframe! $$$$

3. Oil consumption in Revup motors.

4. If over 100K miles power steering rack failure is common.

5. Window motors and door locks(VERY COMMON FAILURES)

Hope that helps with your buying decision. Most of these items would be taken care of via warranty if the person you buy from took care of it.....knew about these items.

I would drive the car on a variety of different roads and listen for rattles. Some of these cars rattle a ton.
