Question On tires Please HELP!!

So i took my dads car to get a alignment today, i told them i also felt that the back tire was giving out. they found out there was a puncture in the tire and told me that they couldnt repair it and it had to be fixed.

my question is would it be fine to change only 1 tire?

Would it be better to change two?

would changing only 1 tire affect the car in the long run?

according to the parents he says if you change 1 tire, it wont do nothing in the short run but will affect your car in the long run.

it depends on how much tread is left on the other rear tire. If it is around 8/32nds then you can just buy one new tire. If it's anything less than you risk putting stress on the differential.

theres 50% left on all four tires.

i was thinking that if i stick a new tire in one tire is going to be 100% tread verus the other 3 which are 50%. the tires would be different sizes, therefore rotating differently .

You'll definitely want to replace the other rear. Our cars aren't AWD so you dont have to replace all 4, just 2 at a time.

Yeah, stupid guy was telling me it doesn't matter. If you think about it 3 tires have 50% tread 1 tire 100% obviously they are going to be rotating differently. Thanks ill get it fixed tomorrow.
