Laser Jammer in CA

I was planning on getting a laser jammer installed on my G and I wanna know if anyone has been caught in CA with a laser jammer?

Whats the fine/points if I happen to get caught ....

Did anyone try to sell the cop that it was a parking sensor ?

Thanks !!

It's illegal. Why not just drive normally so you don't have to worry about it?

Coz the cops are giving out tickets for "3 miles over" in my area ( have you heard of this sh*t) , we think its because of the budget deficit and I just do not want to get anymore tickets ....

Its illegal but as far as I am concerned, what the cops are doing is illegal too. .....There should be a threshold for error and I think 3 miles is "pushing it too far" and they are just doing it because they need funds. I have cops following me and my friends waiting for us to commit a violation just because we are in the area all the time ( I live and work within a mile, so u see my car on the same road 10 times a day), and my car is STOCK there is nothing on my car which makes it noticeable and I am not a street racer or anything close.

I think its unfair to target and tail people with a better than average cars.

Wow, that's messed up. There actually is something you can do. You can fight it and ask about the last survey done on the street to see what speed most people actually drive on that. You can even bring that up with the cop possibly. For the most part, if you know a lil bit of the law on your end you can have the cop walk away without giving you anything. Also, if you run into the same problem over and over, I'd complain to a lieutenant. THe more calls they get, the more likely they will do something.

Cops tried to follor me a couple of times. I slow down to 30mph and keep it there, signal for every single thing and turn my music down. They actually get pissed/bored from my slow driving they end up over taking me and give me a look like you drive slower than my grand ma.

Dont give them a chance to mess with you.

Don't do it. It's illegal. Get a detector instead (V1 or Escort)...

legal in texas.....but dont know about califonia

kinda not worth it unless your gonna be driving like an idiot

they are usually pretty expensive and its pretty obvious to a cop when you passing everyone that you are speeding.

Most cops are pretty smart about speeding, they know people have radar detectors and such

3 miles over is 3 miles over. You are still breaking the law. There is a threshhold for error. Calibration of the machine.

If you're doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about.

Foster City/San Mateo/Redwood City

Be very cautious when you drive here ...... cops are going crazy with the citations, Just went to the court and there are a bunch of ppl with the same issues like me .....

But the judge is being very nice " I got a 70% discount on my tickets when I went to court!! " . I think they have a "Bad Cop/Good Judge" routine going on .....

I really don't care how serious they are about making some money off people as long as they don't give points ..... this is gonna bump up the insurance companies. I was reading something online on how insurance companies fund the Police to give out more tickets so they can bump our insurance prices. NOT COOOL !!!

Beaditya, my guess is they're targeting younger drivers which isn't unusual in CA. What was the average age of the citizens you noticed when you went to court? My guess (until you tell us) is 18 to 25. I got my license when I was 16 for the next 4 years I received 27 moving violations. It didn't matter how or what I drove, see you're not alone! It might be time to change your driving habits, get a V1 and be aware of who's around you at all times!

Wouldn't work for us guys in socal. Every cop is using laser now. If your detector detects it, he's already clocked you.
