So Pissed...

So I just had the company Rayco tint my G's windows this weekend and this morning I just noticed that the door's leather came off in spots right next to the window!!! AHHHH...

Also, they didn't tint the rear window where the third break light is... looks ridiculous.

Rayco?

Are you in NJ? I've been in school with the owners grandson since preschool. I can most likely help you out.

Well not tinting the 3rd brake light might be the shop's policy since obstructing safety equipment is technically illegal. Some shops also will refuse to tint windshields.

It is something you should generally ask the shop prior to tinting the window. I made it a point to insist they go over my 3rd light when i tinted my windows. It's only 35% tint, so it didn't affect it that much

I think they should have asked me about it. From my point of view I just think it was laziness because it's obviously more work to get at that area. The main issue is what they did to my door's leather trim though. I'm going back tomorrow when they're open... I'm kind of reluctant to ask them to do anything else to the car considering the situation. I'm not sure what the best option for having my trim taken care of is, but they need to fix it or pay someone else to. It's completely unacceptable.

Some other issues I had with the job, which were minor are.. the middle arm rest feels like it was dented... almost like they were kneeling on it. I think it is slowly coming back though. The back seats are kind of marked up, but I can clean them myself... which should not be the case. I also think they took my car for a joy ride considering there were some extra miles on it, and the radio station was changed over to Jamin' 945... EWWW. I definitely regret going to them. I could have saved myself $225 and a headache.

Do you have a coupe or sedan??

On my sedan, there is a small gap. When i asked about it, he just said he had a tool he could use to press the tint down into the gap and it wasn't a big deal at all

As for the leather...i dunno what to tell you. If they damaged it i would be pissed too

Correct, store policy is normally not to go over the brake light, they always cut around it. As for the leather, I belive you signed a wavier that said front window tints are illegal and a bunch of other things are illegal/the shop is not responsible for. Damaging of leather should be in that because of the heat they use to keep the tint on.

I could be wrong, that is just my personal experience.

@ Mustang 5L5, It's the coupe.

I don't recall ever signing a wavier from them. I also never saw another tint job that didn't cover the area of the third brake light.

check your local/state laws...i live in va. and it is illegal to have any type of tint over the 3rd brake light, so tint shop will not tint it unless you sign a wavier.

That's understandable, but they didn't even ask me. Like I said the main issue is what they did to my door's trim though. Totally pissed off and disappointed... can anything ever go right for me?

IS the tint illegal?

If it isn't, then they aren't gonna ask you and you are gonna get the cookie-cutter legal tint install.

If you go illegal, they either do cash no receipt or make you sign a waiver.

That really sucks bro. From the pics, it almost looks like they set the heatgun down on your door.

The tint guy I use takes door panels off and rear decks out to put in full big pieces of tint. But that takes extra time.

Hopefully they take responsibility for what they did. Its too bad you didnt catch the damage before you left. Because I could see them saying "well, how do we know it wasnt like that before you came in?" Or something like that.

If that was my car I'd be going back letting them know they screwed up my door panel and then ask about the brake light tint....door panel is the main issue....time to get but controlled.
