Question Qs about Kinetix Manifold

So im saving up for a Kinetix Intake Manifold and I wanna know what im getting into before i make the buy. My questions are

What other parts do i need with the Manifold?
Do i have to get a tune ?
Does it really produce 30 more HP/ better Gas mileage ?
Is this a hard part to install by yourself

any input from anyone with this part is much appreciated

thanks and i did do search . sorry for the second thread

Did you actually look at the dyno sheet they have on the site? Their manifold is virtually identical to stock until you get to about 6500 RPMs, then you start to see separation. So, technically, it does look like you'll gain 30HP, but only if you plan on running your engine consistently above 6000 RPM. Not a wise thing to do. If you want to burn out your engine quickly, there are better ways to do it that will give you far more than 30HP.

Don't waste your money. Get a 5/16ths spacer from Motordyne. It has a far more useful power band.

Go Cosworth, but that will set you back $$$$

Seriously, for all practicality and best bang for buck you cant go wrong with the MD spacers

How about the "COOL" factor and performance, get the MotorDyne spacer (661-993-5111) and then get a polished plenum from SXEXCX. (Shawn) Give him a PM and he'll switch his polished plenum for yours. Now you'll have cool and performance, will that work for you?

how did you search and not find any of the threads on the kinetix ssv? The dyno on their site is bogus. No 03 350z can rev to 7400rpm completely stock

Actually, it gives 35hp and that's even conservative.

Based on the Kinetix dyno graph, the manifold gives minimal gains until 5700 rpms where it really takes off. That is actually not a bad thing, as stock, the VQ falls on it's face from about 5700 to redline. If the dyno graph is accurate it will really help you feel the kick all the way to redline.

I just picked one up and am having it installed at the end of this month, I am FI so I will be getting a tune as well. I will post up before and after #'s once I get them. Kinetix says that N/A cars don't need a tune after installation, and my numbers may not mean anything to N/A cars, but at least it will you will see what gains it can give.

There is lots of information about the SSV, but the new manifold is called the Velocity Manifold, and is a completely different design to the SSV. So all that info on the SSV does not apply. There is little to no info about the new Velocity Manifold.

Their dyno graph show the engine going to a little under 7100rpm. Does anyone know what the rev limiter is on an 03Z? Maybe they raised the limiter to try and get more power out of their product, which would be a bit misleading.

veloocity manifold=tapered ssv. Not a completely different design at all. OEM redline is 6600rpm. The dyno is completely suspect

It is a completely different design for an intake manifold, while the basic principle is the same. It has a tapered plenum chamber instead of a uniform chamber, larger chamber volume, shorter intake runners, and thicker guage Stainless Steel.

Because of these changes the SSV information is not all that useful other than to speak to the general reputation of the company.

I agree that their dyno is suspect, but I will let you know what my findings are. My tuner suggests that gains could be significant.

I'd trust the suspect dyno more than I'd trust the opinion of a tuner. If he's never worked with it, it's an educated guess at best, but it's still just a guess. He isn't the one who's stuck with it if it underperforms.

I'll go back to my earlier point. Compare this to an MD spacer, not to stock, and I think you'll see that the MD has a far more useful power band, and that the only benefit this has is above 6000 RPM, a range that's difficult to stay in without wrecking your engine. I'm certain the total area under the curve is larger for the MD spacer.
