Engine replacement question

I don't know a whole lot about cars. I recently had my engine replaced, due to Oil consumption. I was wondering with a engine replacement, do they set the miles back to 0? or does that ever happen? Thank you for all your help.

Nope, the mileage on the cluster represents the mileage on the car as a whole.

Mileage is attached to the VIN number which is attached to the chassis of the car. The engine is considered a replaceable component. If the engine comes out, the car still had 65K miles or so on it.

I always laugh when i see ads for used cars where people replace or rebuild the engine and list the miles on the engine rebuild as the actual mileage of the vehicle.
