I dont know how useful the GPS feature would be, but I've been considering the hardwire for some time now. I have the kit lying around for the Escort, but I would never hardwire it and use the cruddy mounts that come with the detector.

I think its about time for me to start shopping for a mike's mount. Any impressions so far?

Clean install btw

IMO one of my favorite mods. I am **** about having a bunch of **** hanging from my windshield and the Mikes Mount/Invisicord combo cleans it up. I thought I might miss the mute button on the car power plug, but it's just as easy to reach up and hit the button on the detector to mute it.

The GPS feature tells you where red light cameras are and speed cameras. It also tells you the vehicle speed when you get an alert and memorizes false alerts by GPS coordinates.

I have nothing negative to say about the mount or the cord. It's as good as it gets.

The Passport split in half last night. Returned it but they didn't have any in stock at the store where I went. Since the front of it wasn't propped up against the windshield like it is with the suction cups it was just hanging in the air from the clip and it split. Nothing looked broken inside though and it only split half way. I'll get another when I have time to go to another store.

Mike's Mount FTW! The only thing I wished he would do differently would be to offer black screws instead of the standard silver ones. I spraypainted mine, they looked great. I think it makes the whole mount look more professionally manufactured.
The only other thing is that the radar detector screw holes at the bottom of Mike's Mount have stripped possibly from overtightening it to ensure that the metal radar detector mount is not loose. I've also bumped my head against it a couple of times during my aftermarket stereo install which probably didn't help anything either.

Another thing I've noticed is if my Escort 8500 is turned on, and I decide to use my OEM navigation, as soon as I lift the lid, the radar detector goes off with a 'LASER' warning. It will continue to do this until I turn off my radar detector, wait a minute or so, then turn it back on. I'm pretty sure it's due to the placement of the detector directly above the OEM navigation system as it didn't do this previously when the radar detector was attached via the suction cups on the front windshield.

Only problem with doing this with your Passport 9500ix's is that putting it that high on the windshield prevents the unit from A. getting as clear of a view of the sky as it can for GPS purposes and B. Isnt as close to center mass where lidar (laser) is typically aimed (license plate \ headlights \ etc)...

LOVE the mount - I wish I'd have seen it before I went with the direct wire smart cord... I mighta done things differently =P

Thanks for the great recommendations for Invisicord (the ORIGINAL mirror power cord to clean up the ol' cockpit)! I have an idea for a wireless RF trigger that uses the Invisicord technology that could be used for various things in the G/Z.

I have a post out on a forum to dig up some ideas on how useful it would be to have a wireless remote do a continuity pulse or constant pulse on any harness using Invisicord, and as I have more info, I will supply it! This was the 2nd forum to adopt the Invisicord product line, so you will again be 2nd to hear if I progress any further on this idea.

This looks sweet, I need to get this done soon. Would you guys say that Valentine is much better than Beltronics? because I have the Beltronic which works good, and I was thinking of getting the Valentine but my cousin said that the Bel was better than the Valentine, what do you guys think?
