I am new on this forum. I hope this website will help me knogwing that we all own an infiniti. My question is I am looking to buy drivers side compression rod, now the thing is most of you probably live in the US I am in Canada and I really need direction on where I can get this part and how to change it. I am a lady owner
and as you know dealerships especially an infiniti dealership garage love when a woman enters thinking a woman knows nothing about cars so they charge you an arm and a leg. Can someone please help me.
Thank you so much

Compression Rod
Thank you so much for your help. Now, I would love if there was a vendor in Canada, not too sure where these guys are located? Have you ever had to change a compression rod yourself?
Couple things you should do...
1. Use the search function and the advanced search function of this board. If you click the search function, then click advanced search, you can put in "diy compression" and it comes up with several threads.
2. Read the threads that the search comes up with.
I myself have never had to replace or repair a compression rod. However, after doing a quick search, it looks like there might possibly be a TSB out for your issue.
this is the TSB
ITB08-013
Now, I didnt read enough into it to make sure it was for your specific year or make of your car (as I dont know what you have). Also, I didnt want to do all the work for you. Having said all that, if the TSB is for your car, you can actually take it up to the dealer and tell them to reference that TSB number. If it hasnt been done to yours yet, they will do it free of charge.

Thank you lol However, I wasnt going to ask you to do all the work. I am new in the forum and in fact never been on a forum ever. I have 2004 G35, and I will do the search and see what I can come up with, but so far I am really impressed with this forum because you guys know alot. But, thats a natural thing hence that all men love cars and read up on them.

I cant remember the site, but theres one referenced on here that has TONS of DIY videos to watch on everything from a simple oil change to a hood damper install. You should watch those too.

HMMMMMMM, I might just think of that
However, being a girl not so crazy about sitting and watching car fixing videos but I might just have too in order to fix the problem. Why is it that infiniti dealerships charge you an arm and a leg to get it checked out, plus do a compression rod change. They told me parts and labour your looking about 500 plus tax my eyes literally pooped out. Then he tells me my back brakes are in a need of a change for sure before next winter of 2009 and thats another 500 plus tax I mean holy crow. I know its in an infiniti but man driving a car like this doesnt always mean I am super rich lol what are they thinking. So, I hope I can fix problems without becoming bankrupt
lol Anytime if your bored and want to send me some links that can help me by all means I am not stopping you. lol So, I have a 2004 G35 mile on it 100,000. Service Light is on and turns off then comes back on after a few days, compression rod and my back brakes need a change. I need a mechanic LOL
You have been helpful thank you.....?

An 04 with 100k miles on it... i mean... its going to start needing things replaced. Its just the nature of the beast when owning a high mileage vehicle. You're also going to make sure to keep a close watch on it as well as proper maintenance practices to ensure it gets you another 100k. :-)
