Here is a pic

Slide the actual key out of the fob. Then use a paper clip to split the key fob open at small opening on top.

use a thin flathead screwdriver, place it in the slot and gently twist. The top and bottom of the kob will seperate and you can change the battery. Snap the two pieces back together when done.

Correct, passive RFID and transmitter are different. The transmitter requires more power. The more you use the ikey buttons, the faster the battery dies. Also keep in mind, the more the ikey battery drains down, the less likely the door buttons will work.

Like the others say, the batteries are cheap. Just change it when in doubt.

i had the same problem.
sometimes the fob would work, sometimes it wouldn't.
sometimes when i'm in the driver's seat, it wouldn't recognize the intellikey.
sometimes the door button works, sometimes it doesn't. it's pretty fustrating.
the dash icon didn't blink or anything.
i went and bought new batteries. it worked great for the 1st week from a good distance.
but 3 weeks later, it's back to the same old crappy thing.
has anyone experienced the same thing?

you could have purchased a bad battery. Make sure you buy a brand name batteries with a good expiration date.

I have the exact same problem. I have bought multiple new batteries.... sometimes the door buttons work sometimes they dont, sometimes the car detects the keys when im in it, sometimes it doesnt. I have to hit the unlock button once I am in the car and then quickly turn the ignition so I dont have to take out the real key itself. Its getting worse but its hit or miss..... the car doesnt recognize the key fob most of the time now.....

Are you guys having the same problem with BOTH I-keys? That would seem to indicate the receiver in the car is going bad. If so, a trip to the dealer might be in order.

I actually have the same problem. It works when I put a new battery in for a week or two, then I can't press the button on the outside door or start the car without the key inserted. How much do you estimate the dealership would charge?

My does this too! Did you pay a trip to the dealership? Which year is your g35? Mine is a 06 and I replaced the batteries and it still does the same crappy thing. Sometimes it work sometimes it doesn't. Would you guys recommend me buying a new fob off amazon and reprogramming it? Also I tried reprogramming my current fob and its really frustrating of it not being able to be put into programming mode.

I can't put mine into programming mode either, same year. Maybe it's the keyless? I can't get the key insert sequence to work; I don't know whether it's the little door preventing accurate timing, or our cars don't go into programming mode like that.
