Infiniti g35 and engine heat
yeah,
so my neighbor and me were driving to hooter this afternoon for lunch, he borrowed his wife's buick century and we met up at the local hooters,
after lunch we came right back home and noticed as i walk by the rt front end of my car i notice it was hot there,
so i touched the hood and it was hot,
i went over to neighbor's car and the buick was hot too but not close as hot as my g35 coupe,
i drove from a friends house to hooters and it was farther than his drive from his place to hooters and all morning his car wasn't used at all,
does anybody notice their g35 engine heat?DOMO

i think you notice the heat more because our cars are a mid-engine platform. Thats the same reason why you feel alot of heat on your ankles when you open the door and get out of the car...
at least, thats what i tell myself.

All it means is the engine is behind the front wheels. The extra 6" back isn't gonna make a difference. All cars do it to some extent. You'll get the same blast by the ankles from a FWD car. The engine fan pulling air through the radiator deflects the air down under the car.
Engines get HOT. The coolant reaches 200* and the exhaust headers and external parts can reach much higher. You can cook steak on your engine if you wrap it in foil and go for a drive. If you want to feel heat coming off the engine, you should feel it off my Mustang's engine with long tube headers. I really gotta get some exhaust wrap.
All cars will have heat coming from the seams of the hood, grill and through the hood after a drive. The hood material prob plays a role as the G35 hood is Aluminum while a lot of other cars use steel. As a result, the heat transfer is slightly higher.
As long as your coolant gauge is reading okay, you should be fine
