I hope that you did not use only filler to delete it... Body filler that thick, will shrink, and possible crack. slamming the trunk shut will not help it either. The best way would be to weld in sheetmetal, then skim over it.

First picture looks like he's put some mesh in there..... But that's not going to do anything about 2.5" of bondo.
