03 G, oil light comes on, weird noises. am I fvcked?

So for the past 2 months I've been seeing my oil light come on for like 2 seconds randomly then go away, not very often but its happend about 3 times.. Usually on inclines.. I check the oil, its low.. I add more oil.. Car runs fine and smooth.

But now say starting 5 days ago if I let the car slow down itself in 2nd or 1st gear (engine braking) I get grinding/chatter/rubber moaning sound coming from the right, maybe rear side of the car at around 2500-1800 RPMs.. It is not normal. I have about 1500 miles left on my full coverage extended warranty I called them and reported the issue, the guy on the other line told me to bring it into the dealer I bought it from or a mechanic of my choice to look at it.

My car is an AT with 68K miles on it... This can't be oil consumption, can it?

Get your car to the shop ASAP. Whenever you see the oil light, most often it's already too late since you're out of oil. If you've been running like this for weeks on and off, there's no telling what kind of damage may have occurred.

Oil consumption has happened before to 03-04 automatics. It's very rare I think one of the people in my local club NGC had this problem and he had an 04 5AT.

Good luck!

Sounds like you have OC to me. Take it in ASAP. Next your rod bearings will go and you'll throw or spin a rod.

I'm starting to think a good investment would be a Oil pressure gauge.
I wish there was a level sensor higher in the oil pan... So that if it gets low a quart it would show a light on the dash.

^^ i agree with this guy, cuz those oil pressure sensors are way too low, and once you see that oil light turn on while driving, your pretty much big time in danger! that light is, known as the "idiot light" because of the simple fact that it doesn't advise you ahead of time, and only until your SUPER LOW on oil, will it come on and advise you. by the time it does advise you, 80% of the time, its too late!

I've made it a habit to check my oil every time I pull my car out of the garage. It's easier for me though because I don't drive mine every day. In my daily driven car I do check it at least once a week though. It's a good habit to get into.

I can't remember how far the powertrain warranty goes. Are you still covered?

Damn. I'll be trying to take it into my friends one stop shop.. He's packed with cars and jobs but as long as I can get him to call my warranty company and get their approval i'm fine.

It would be better to take the car into a dealer but I have mods and they might deny me.. If I take it to my friends shop he wants me to get the new dam motor lol.

I'm seriously borderline on crossing my warranty mileage.. Fvckkkkkkkkkk

They have to PROVE that your mods caused the problem. If they deny you call head of nissan. This has happened many times on here and they just persist through and they warrant the work. Why bother taking the deductible when Nissan will probably do it free and give you a loaner car!

My G is 03, factory warranty is LONG gone.. My dedcutible is only 50 bucks anyway.

Second, i'm banned from infiniti for doing donuts in their loaner car.

I'd just rather take it to my friends shop, no hassle about mods at all.. I don't want to go to nissan and them haggle me about mods and then I have to call nissan headquarters..

I could take it to the audi dealer I bought the car from and they would give me a brand new A4 loaner which is what they did last time.. I didn't abuse their car though.. FWD

Within the last 2 months, you had to add oil because it was down to the low mark 3 times???!!! yeah, I'd say you're using SLIGHT amount of oil there. If you had to add 4 quarts to get it to to the full mark each time, that's like going though 12 quarts of oil in two months!
