Backed into my usual parking spot this morning, no issues, parked next to a lifted Ford F150 who was also backed in. When she pulled out to leave (before I was done for the day) she managed to run up over the bumper (caught a little bit of the fender and tore most of the front bumper off). Good news is that we both use the same insurance company (USAA) so they've been helpful so far.
So this is my first time having to deal with an insurance company. I know that on Monday I have to visit one of their approved Body Shops for an initial estimate but that afterward I'm free to use a my own body shop (which I've already picked out based on friend recommendations but have not used in the past, new to the area here). Is there some way I could swing a Karuma Z front bumper out of this or are they likely to insist on replacing factory parts with factory parts? My experience in dealing with body ships is very limited - it's usually me walking in with parts and cash and saying 'do it' so I dunno how all this normally works...
Any input is welcome, and btw the G isn't too banged up from the looks of it, should be just body work and gtg. Might need a new driver side headlight assembly and fender but it should be possible to save them.

well there are two ways you can work this. The body shop will want to replace the stock parts, but if you choose not to fix your car they will give you cash and then you can go out and get your karuma z and then take it back to the body shop and have them put it on or do it yourself.
Get the money!!!
Then you can get the bumper and get it painted and possibly save some money!
Why do women (no offense ladies) always drive the biggest vehicles on the road and can't drive them??? Excalades, Yukons, Tahoes, Sequoias, LIFTED Pick ups. Errr.

And it really sucks that you have to go to an approved repair shop. She caused the damage, so you should be able to go wherever you want to get it repaired. I'm glad it's that way in my state. It's this kind of crap with insurance companies that's gotten lost in this whole health care debate. People worried about the government screwing you when they're already getting screwed and don't even know it. Bah!!
Sorry, rant over. If the dealer doesn't do bodywork then find out who they recommend.
Take it to an Infiniti dealership.

Crappy cell-phone pics but best I've got at the moment. Still not sure if I want to take the cash and then source a shop or go with the insurance company's and add some aftermarket parts in lieu of OEM (the insurance company recommended shop said they would work with on me that, so it might be worth doing that way)... will think on that this weekend I guess.
The only problem with taking cash is that if there are hidden damages discovered during the repair, it's difficult to get the insurance company to come up with the difference. If you're in the shop for an OEM repair, it's not such a big deal (in fact, the shop deals with it, not you). Just a thought.
The damage doesn't seem to be much more than about 1500. Take the money, buy a sick bumper, new painted fender, maybe headlight, and pocket the extra cash or buy more mods.
Edit: I didn't notice your hood and grill. Is the hood damaged at all?

Unbelievable that the b*tch would cause that damage getting out of a parking spot, and not even reversing. Makes you wonder how some people get licenses. Freaking idiot, but good luck to you with the fix, and good time to go aftermarket.

I'm still looking for a good shop in Fayetteville, NC if anyone local has suggestions, but if I don't find one I'll go with the insurance company's since they will warranty that work for the life of the car and will work with me on some aftermarket parts. Unfortunately the nearest Infiniti dealership is in Raleigh about an hour and a half away and with crap hanging off the front end, highway driving is out of the question.
friends M3 got reversed into by someone, so i took him to get his car fixed.
they charged money for disposal fee, and the dumbest things, which makes the price shoot exponentially. even like a OEM bumper which only costs like 200, the shop charges 500, for example.
