FI & insurance????

FI & insurance????

so my car is goin to be garaged for the winter and im gonna be puttin in a Vortech. I know technically your supposed to tell your insurance company about that and they adjust accordingly, but does any1 actually do it??? has anybody had there car totaled with FI?? did insurance cover u?? better yet did they pay for your SC or Turbos if u had receipts???

you would need "extra equipment coverage" ... it's expensive. every insurance company is different

I think with any mods it's always good to keep the receipts. I remember a guy back then got his highly modded integra stolen and kept all his receipts. His insurance paid him out accordingly and it was so much that he was able to upgrade to a used nsx plus some of his own cash of course. This was back in the mid to late 90s though. Every insurance company is different though. When my insurance company found out that I was putting in a "race" motor and the works they denied me full coverage.

Some states offer "Stated Value" insurance. Then you pay for whatever YOU think it's worth. Some don't offer it.
To answer your question, no one I know with FI vettes offer up that info to insurance companies.
