Legal or Illegal?

Hey guys!

I am just a little paranoid. I was wondering:

1) Are having clear corners in California illegal? If not, does the bulb have to be amber or can it be clear?

2) Is having LED bright white lights ( http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p4481133.html ) for my license plate light illegal in California?

Thanks again guys!

As long as there isn't a reflector on the stock amber corners, then clear corners are perfectly legal. You must use an amber bulb or the light has to illuminate amber on the bumper lights up front.

White LED bulbs on the license plate are perfectly legal as long as they aren't blue-ish. Blue lights on civilian vehicles is illegal, even if it's supposed to be white, but comes out with a tint of blue.

Wow thanks for the quick response.

I do not really know what reflectors are...but when you say white clear corners with amber bulb lights inside is ok, then that is good to know. I guess white clear corners with white bulbs inside is not legal though.

I am just now worried about the LEDs (the link is above) that I bought. They are 6k which i just found out have the slightest tint of blue. Maybe I should have gone with 5k...?

Can anyone advise?

Unless of course they're looking for a reason to pull over a modded vehicle then you just gave them the opportunity and reason. Clear sides are legal as long as the bulb is amber. Our laws aren't any stricter than other states, if you pay attention to what members in New York and a few of the eastern states have to say. Then there's Florida, they may have laws but they're not enforced....must be nice!

Oh I am not worried about the corner white LEDS because I am just going to use an amber bulb. What i am worried about is the white LED license plate. The ones i bought are 6k..which supposedly give off just the slightest bluish light.

Interior blue led map lights are legal though right? LOL i am pretty sure they are but just want to be sure.

If the LED has a blue tint again you're giving the officers a reason to pull you over or write a bigger ticket. LED's are cool but why would you want to bring more attention to your license plate? I have never heard of any laws pertaining to interior lighting as long as they don't appear to be emergency vehicle lighting....flashing/colored!

The 6K LED license plate lights are just fine IMO. I live in a very police proactive part of my city and they have never pulled me over for my 6K LED license plate light. I would be more worried if you didn't have a license plate light or if it was too dim. Obviously, the 6K LED lights are not blue, purple, red, or neon green. For all intense purposes, I consider them white. Don't freak out. Install them and enjoy.
