What do you do with our OEM exhaust?

Having upgraded my exhaust system from the cats back, I have an OEM exhaust system with 25K miles on it off my 2006 coupe. It's packaged beautifully in the box that the new exhaust came in.

Do you hold on to it....just in case? Is there a market for it? It's taking up room in my garage....I'd rather have some extra cash for the next project...

It doesn't cost anything to list it in the Marketplace here so might as well put it there. You never know who may be interested.

I guess part two of the question was...how much? I looked for it in Craigs list and ebay to get some comparables...but couldn't find anything. Certainly something is better than nothing, but I don't wanna leave money on the table either.

I think my search for the exhuast system brand new from a dealer was to no avail either. Hell....if I knew that, I'd mark it for half the price of new...

^^Good thread jack haha.

Michael I think $100-$150 plus shipping would be a good start. They've sold in that range recently.

typically I'd suggest keeping all stock parts - this way you can sell your after market stuff and put car back to stock when its time to sell... also, if you ever have issues with after market parts (they fail, dealer warranty, smog, what ever), you can swap to OEM stuff.

I have a bunch of OEM stuff sitting in the garage... but I don't I'll ever be able to get the car stock again, so I might as well try to get rid of everything
Otherwise, just keep it.

Yeah, I'm going to hold onto my OEM intake. I could be wrong on this assumption, but I figure if anything is going to make me fail smog, it'll be the intake and not the exhaust (I still have all my OEM cats). As far as failure...I guess ANYTHING can fail...I just dont thing the HKS is going to. Watch me get rear-ended tomorrow!

Swap out on resale, in my mind...the biggest reason to hold onto my OEM parts. This point beggs the bigger question (that probably belongs on another thread), what is the market like for cars with expensive mods? Will you make more money by restoring the car to stock status and sell off the performance parts independantly OR sell a modified car and the OEM parts independantly????

Thanks! This is what I need to know! Kinda hard to determine a fair market value with they are only sold periodically. I'm so use to getting instant information on the Web, that it's frustrating when you cant google you're way through. I suppose that's what forums are for!

Thanks again,

Michael
