To those with oil consumption, DONT GIVE UP!

Just want to let all you guys know out there that are struggling with dealers denying them warranty coverage for oil consumption.

My 03 5AT consumed heavy amounts of oil but the warranty kept looking for ways out of replacing the motor.. I haven't had my G for over 2 months and its been hell. Warranty denied my new motor twice but I kept fighting and fighting my way into getting a new motor until they finally approved the claim and ordered me the new motor. My car will be ready in two days and I am happier than ever.. Its like a nice christmas present getting my G back.

I've been stuck driving a 1994 base model toyota corolla 5MT.. The G will feel like a rocket once I start driving it again. CANT WAIT!

So to all you guys out there struggling to get the new motor. Don't give up without a huge fight. I would have been stuck with a $1600 bill for labor/tear down if the warranty would have denied me again.

So The 03 and 07 are prone to oil consumptions. And after 50k, the valve seal will start to leak oil...

Tell me again how this VQ motor made it to top 10 motor of the year...

the 05+ revups are the ones that are prone.. Mine was a rare occasion.

My motor had piston ring damage I believe.

I have been dealing with the same problem since last november. My car consumes 3 qts/1k miles and they denied replacement because of my FI catback exhaust and popcharger. Any tips on what else i can do? Ive tried almost everything from talking to consumer affairs to writing letters to corporate but nothing. Any help would be much appreciated!

Oil consumption means that the engine burns oil. When you check your oil level, you'll see that the level decreases as you drive. Some amount of oil loss is normal, but some G's burn large amounts of oil. Losing 1qt between oil changes is fine, buy any more than that and you're getting into excessive consumption. Burning oil is no huge deal, but it can be a symptom of a larger engine issue, affecting power or longevity, that's why people insist that the dealer does something about it while still under warranty.

I am taking my 05 6mt coupe in this week for the oil consumption test. I am now at 4 and quarter qts extra every 3,000. Car doesn't smoke and don't see any residue out of the exhaust. Wish me luck...

for people who no longer have warranties and are faced with pulling the engine apart for new rings/bearings.....try this.....RISLONE, yeah I know! but the fact is that many of these motors are built with very close tolerances between the ring and the piston ring groove/land. From what I understand is that piston rings can stick in the ring groove because of carbon/blow by causing the RING to no longer move in and out under its normal spring tension and the ring no longer conforms to the piston wall. The ring is then stuck which causes blow by. Rislone although it has some properties it is mostly KEROSENE which is an excellent cleaner.
some years ago I stored a car for about 9 months without running, when I finally started the motor it ran bad and blew smoke everywhere. One qt of Rislone and less than 12 miles caused all of the bad symptoms to go away..it runs great to this day.
