burning smell

I have a 06 g35 coupe auto. I bought it a few months ago and it had very low mileage (8,500km). I am getting this burning smell coming into the cabin slightly at red lights. After i drive home from work on the hwy and put it into the driveway it smells really bad. I have put alot of mileage on in the past 2 months (its at ~ 23,000km)

I first thought it was the detailing stuff they used on the engine bay etc. But its only getting worse. The brakes are also squeaking slightly and when i release the brake they stick a bit. I tried to locate the smell and it seems to be from the engine bay maybe? not really from the brakes although i cant be 100% sure.

Anyone know what it could be? I will be taking it to the dealer next month when i get some time. It has had a recent oil change and the tranny fluid was changed 2 services ago.

Any help appreciated
thanks

I had a similar problem But it was my compression belt which i had just installed... slightly bigger than original which was rubbing and causing a burning smell.. got it replaced and no more smell..

But it could be something else.. in your case

It hard to help with "burning smell", without actually being there to narrow down what might be burning. Different substances give off different odors. With cars, the most common would be oil, coolant (sweet odor), clutch and brakes (similar odor), electrical, and rubber. Perhaps you might know someone knowledgable with cars that can ride along with you on a drive and narrow down the possible source first.

Like they said, almost impossible to diagnose without being able to smell it, but I would be concerned about the brakes, the squealing could be the wear indicator or worse metal on metal which could explain the sticking, could also be some cheap ceramic pads. I bought a set that actually melted when I drove hard on them, I'd try swapping out the pads for some good ones, I prefer semi-metallic but they can give off more dust than ceramic ones, some premium ceramic pads can be pretty good.

ya i know what u guys are saying. Its more of a burning rubber kinda smell...like i would think the belts possibly. I smelled the tires doesnt seem to be coming from there.

The car did have a full nissan/infiniti inspection before i bought the car (if i can trust that). The brakes and everything else were all good according to them.

I will have to take it in and find out then.
