Thank you Jeff!

For the money you will spend doing the swap, you could just go buy a 6mt. and if you can only afford $3000 then you can't afford to spend the difference to make it Mt.

I like how since you got your other car free, it has absolutely no value to you. I bet that car has less miles too.

Do you want to drive a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe? Me neither. I got it for free because some local absentee slumlord had it left behind on his property, and he was too lazy to come down and meet a tow company to remove it.

I also own a Galant VR4 and a B13 SE-R, which are staying in the stable.

As far as the harness and ecu swap, I figured that would be necessary. We had to replace the whole engine harness, several relays, the fuse box, and several other electrical issues on the Audi. Maybe I'm naiive, but I don't see this being much worse. I can handle the work myself...will a harness, ecu, transmission, driveshaft, clutch, and the whole clutch system really cost me $5200? Because the cheapest 6MT I've found on Craigslist, Autotrader, and cars.com is $8200. (excluding salvage title cars).

regular maintenance stuff.....belts, fluids, BRAKES, tires, plugs......

as far as swapping goes, if you can find the stuff to do the swap for a good price then go for it. it wont be hard. the trannys are cake to drop in these cars as is the harness easy to pull out too.

good luck with it. main thing is the oil consumption issue tho.

High milee

I have an 03 g35. I am the second owner.I currently have 180k on the odometer and have not had any major problems. If you maintain these cars, you should be able to drive them for a while!

He's not paying 3k for it, he's paying 7.

Dude, for 7 grand, go buy a cheaper used car with a warranty on it. It won't be a G35, but you will at least have a reliable form of transportation that won't have 160k on it. That is a lot of miles, whether it's highway miles or not. 160k worth of bumps, pot holes, and stress on the whole car, not just engine and tranny. Either way, good luck.

Or, driver that santa fe. Depending on the mileage, that thing still might be under the power train warranty lol

dude... i'm sure the engine will prob hit 250k if it is well taken care of... like the other poster said though, there is alot more parts on a car then an engine.

I wouldn't buy ANY BRAND with 160k unless i was friends with the owner and knew he was a fanatic.

LMFAO. I wound up buying a 2003 G35 5AT sedan with 80K back in june.

Anyways, nobody here has understood what I was originally saying back when I made the original post. The Santa Fe was free (literally), and the dealer at the time was going to give me the G for $3000 and the Santa Fe. (They were having trouble moving it because of its high mileage). So I would have had a total of $3000 invested in a running, driving G35.

Also, FYI, the warranty on those Hyundais is non-transferable.
